Hi Daniel,

It's not about artists, it's about tracks and about style.

Check for similar basslines, similar bass drums, same bpm to find out which tracks are working perfect together. That doesn't mean you should create a mix with similar tracks, that would be boring. It's about identifying parts of the tracks working good together.

just my two cents :-)

just listen very carefully.

i dont spin yet but plan too, but when i listen to a track, you just hear certain things and then a track with similair style pops into your mind.

how it happens? dont know, but just let go and open up, and try to have some sort of musical library in your mind.

the key i think is listening to it, a long time so you know what's what.

old melodic etnica tracks almost always mix well with eachother. they very rarely have key mismatches and the production is, ofcourse, similar between the tracks.

I'm already pretty decent (not super great) at mixing vocal trance remixes and melodic trance but Psy-Trance is presenting itself to be a difficult task to acheive.

It's hard to find tracks that can fit together, but I'm searching.....thanx for the help guys :)

Man you have to know some things before getting into the djing world , here is my guide i hope it will help you , when i started no one gave a guide so i hope you will apreciatte this .

1. LISTEN FIRST all your tracks

2. Choose the tracks you liked the most

3. LISTEN THEM a lot of times

4. Try to find , similar elements between those tracks

5. Choose a good opener

6. Start mixing , you will learn a lot of things alone practicing and practicing every day , for months and months , if things are not working dont force youself , relax and LISTEN .

TIP 1: LISTEN a lot of dj sets not only psy , you will learn a lot of progressive and house djs because they are the true djs , if you want to learn about making music trips with your sets , nubreed 2 mixed by danny howells , bionic pulse method (psy) and every Sasha dj set are the choice , if you want to learn about technique every set mixed by digweed and jimmy van m are the choice . IMPORTANT : dont listen raja ram stash bag 1 or 2, thanks to those sets psy djs have bad fame in the the djing world .

TIP 2 : If you want to get out of your bedroom , GET YOUR OWN STYLE (hehe thats the most difficult thing about djing you will understand with the time.

TIP 3 : MAKE MUSIC

GOOD LUCK

After a while you will start listening to all your cd's over and over and wham it just hits you what will sound great with this track, out of nowhere... but it took a while to happen for me hehe 5 years of intensive listening to all my collection, sometimes it is just the smallest thing, just that 10 seconds of a song that somehow your mind just knows it will fit perfectly with the another, it just clicks somehow :).

Astral pretty much mixes with any old style Israeli melodic trance...

Etnica... I dunno never got into their stuff much

Astrix and Alien Project fit together perfectly... also Deedrah...

Infected Mushroom and Psysex/Space Cat/Skazi and many others...

look at what year a release was and most other stuff from the same timeframe will mix well together... but you really have to lose yourself in the music and use the high, mids and lows, not just beat match and have patience, you need to let the track flow for aout 90% before you consider cross fading :) Check out the Joti Sidhu mix on Distance to goa 8, he even starts mixng the track with 2 minutes to go before he cross fades, it is the best mixing I have heard on cd :) Along iht Raja Ram but different style :)
