LuisBSF Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Not familiar with it I'm afraid. All free vst's I see around don't seem to offer x64 binaries. Does Sonar come with a gate that can be sidechained to audio by any chance? Quote
Mike A Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Yes indeed. That's what I use now. But I still think it would be so much easier to do it with a midi sent directly to the gate and not making up a ghost synth just so it will gate. Quote

I normally use ableton's simpler with some sharp sound loaded to trigger the gate as it seems to be a bit easier on resources, but it ain't a particularly tidy solution. Hope you find one. Quote
Solar Flare Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I dont use "real" Gates. (only if its too high to jump over) No, I use the Cut-Tool and Crossfades for "technical Gate". To produce the "trance-gate" as an effect on a synth, i prefer using LFO's which modulate the volume or the cutoff. I own Omnisphere and I must say I love it! It has a very cool Envelope Section with four Mod-Envelopes. You can draw in some nice rhythms which will modulate anything you like. When the sound is already bounced to audio... there is the "BigSeq"-VST (by Audio Damage I think) which is a sequencer/gate to chop the sound afterwards. Its free but... its gone! I can't find it on their website... -.- But there must be something similar... Quote
Solar Flare Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Ooooups... double Post! Sorry. ^^ Quote
boohu Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 http://www.dreamvortex.co.uk/effects/ i used that and there are many others but i couldnt be bothered , i can even gate with the darn fruit mute manually for exact gate expression. lol https://www.image-line.com/support/FLHelp/html/plugins/Fruity%20Mute%202.htm 1 Quote
Oopie Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Fruity Love Philter is great too.Very decent tool, I often use it as well. Quote
Amygdala Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Yes! - why is such a gate not just standard issue in all DAWs...? I wrote my own AU for this a while back. Still use it, but it's AU only, ugly as *u**! If you think you can use it, you're more than welcome - but Sonar is VST, ya? Quote
Cybernetika Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Love Philter and CamelSpace. There is a plugin which I came across recently which is pretty awesome for a bit more crazy filter gating and more: http://dmitrysches.com/tantra Quote
Imba Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Love Philter and CamelSpace. There is a plugin which I came across recently which is pretty awesome for a bit more crazy filter gating and more: http://dmitrysches.com/tantra I just adore CamelSpace and Tantra. Tantra is used by many artists specialy in psy/prog scene... but its very hard for CPU and RAM. Quote
Padmapani Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 cableguys' volume shaper might be worth a look if tantra is too demanding. it doesn't have an fx section like that, but is a versatile gate effect nonetheless. Quote
