psytones
Welcome to the debut album of Leon Kane, a talented person with a nifty ear and hefty sense for psychedelic trance in that lovely and gliding UK style which so many of us love. By now Leon Kane should be no stranger for the lot of you who digs this style with his involvement in Reality Grid which was a co-operation with Alex EVP from Wildthings Records. Avalon's rip-roaring tunes has been tried and tested with big success on dance floors all over, like his many appearances on varies festivals like Glade2009, Burning Man 09, Universo Paralello 10 and many more across the plains of Europe, Australia and Japan. With the support and acknowledgement of Nano Records, Leon has gone developing his own solo project called, Avalon (Which is said to be a paradise island where King Arthur was carried after his death). When listening to Avalon you should be aware of its complex nature and sublime features of advanced trance skills in that proper UK way of putting the Psy in Trance with non-cheesadelic melodic features for the layer fanatics. Avalon – Distant Future (Nano Records) 2010 (nanoocd023) 01. Play It Bahia 6:53 02. Into The New World 6:38 Vs - Dickster 03. Teleporter 8:15 04. Destiny Awaits (Avalon Rmx) 7:04 Vs - Cosmosis 05. Funky Voodoo 6:54 Vs - G-nome 06. Out There 8:18 07. Another Planet 7:12 Vs - Tristan 08. Swamp Funk 7:11 09. Distant Futures 7:01 10. Opus Pokus 6:43 Join me as we fly through his ten tracks with and without respected working partners: 1. Calling all trippers, warning all flippers.. Bahia is here to play his tunes from a fractal present inside an alienated yet familiar landscape where some Indians once roamed in claustrophobic forms. This is a place where spirits gather in holy dance and solid trance. The bassline is steady with floating elements on top making it all feel like a jingoistic take-off of delight in flight. We like this, eh.. the eternal (?). **** 2. Into the New World where mysticism and strange tokens rises on the deep atmospheres becoming rocket fueled starships gliding carefully yet strong into the unknown essence of one’s own emotional depths. Psytronical insect-like creatures communicates through clicks and blips. This might be the instruments inside your astral craft roaming through intergalactic stars and acid iced forests. It’s absolutely beautiful the colours it shines towards you, and may it bring in its future path; No rules where nothing can go wrong! This is defiantly a cruising track observed from inside a flying object. ****** 3. As the Teleporter energizes itself to become ready and self-aware the heavier beats gather in flickering motions with hallucinogenic effects surrounding your being in acidic manners and it’s time to get teleported in lotus positions to another stage of faith. ‘Why does he care so much about the past? Maybe he thought he could change it..’ ***** 4. As Destiny Awaits, the funk is on a groove and the effects seems to be on a echoing roll sliding it’s acid troll inside a metaphorical trip, so watch out, don’t slip! It’s your destiny to join us, only effort and guidance in right directions of selective protections will help you through the ketamin glue. ***** 5. Where we have come is something to be undone but never unsung, the tribalization is in synchronized harmony of guiding trumpets and misfit stompers - Beauty in a space jungle, Funky in the Voodoo magic. You do, who do? I’ll tell you what I believe; ‘Shit happens’. **** 6. Out There someone is teaching people to use their head, now the point is that in order to use your head; You have to go out of your mind as it is a fleeing possession we all cherish to dwell on not seeing that we are more than the shallow mind and it’s protective reactions to what our true being is dealing with. Our cosmic unity has as many incredible layers and powers with astonishing self realizations as the music at hand. Musical evolution which states the fact that there is only a fractal-self, there is just the sense of to ‘be’ while observing and watching what and where the mind wanders without care ***** 7. .. the mind travels to Another Planet where fruitful growth and inner education to a state where one manages to find underlying peace in any situation. The mind is calm while the body is busy dancing to joyful sounds selected by life that might as well be found on a distant planet far away near enough to be seen with eyes closed on a state of being open for informational transcendence. ****** 8. Flickering lights and rusty pipes with jumping flights Swamps the Funk towards psychedelic junk in a magnificent and swirling trunk. Quirky tempo and respectful thoughts comes out to another floor with interstellar slurries attaching the grind and making smiles shine. ***** 9. In the view of Distant Futures we seem to not be moving through time but time is passing through intellectual moves and gravitational grooves. Drops of hope carries the deep kicks while melting all realities into one reaccepting sense of wellbeing and ultimate understanding of how the universe might for all we know be a self-inflicted intelligence test trying to realize itself through our own eternal consciousness of profound understanding. **** 10. Jungle rain makes the dried potatoes go insane. Juggling beats is nothing to defeat. Opus Pokus is about that special composition exhilarating our chakras making the world morph into a truer self than what seemed possible at first peak, until the magic starts to dance in advance. To create a thought, an idea, a sound with the mind is not always an easy task, now imagine that you where to create the whole universe with the very power of your own thought.. ***** Recommendation: Now there is something utterly alluring by the way some of these UK chaps manages to produce such complex and vivid music that just seem to fly in subtlety psychedelic trance. It’s the many layers with touches of pleasurable groove and refreshing funk that excites; it’s the willingness to not go over the top with melodies and craziness that puts it on a divine dinner table for the wizards to feed on the many details placed around to create what it eventually manages to create – Bliss and mystery. So what’s the downside with this release then? Well, without liquid goggles and fancy pants, it becomes generic and lost too fast. It’s definitely a pleasurable listen, but breathtaking and ear-catching to follow in its own distinct characteristics, not so obvious.. It should be mentioned with loud words that the cover artwork by Android and the acid reflection of a lost Mayan city inside the cover artwork by Anton Kononov is absolutely spectacular! All in all I find myself really enjoying this release because it truly succeed to draw you into its magical realm where surprises keeps on coming and dropping out leaving you breathless with a giggling sanity for a smile. For those with fine tuned ears there is such honorable complexity in the composition that one must wonder where they get it from (must be something in the water, must be .. ). So if you like your FullOn to be psychedelic with trance inducing flow and groove, please check this one out – It should turn you on! longloststar
Actually good full on? I'll be all over this for sure. The sound is very thick and often quite groovy, pretty much devoid of cheesy melodies. A solid addition to the slim list of full on with integrity. DisKtroyer
Liked the album. As mentioned, it is non-cheesadelic indeed. ,,,For a debut album, the work is quite mature i must say. Tracks 02, 04, 06, 07, 09 are quite enjoyable. Rating: 3.5/
Trance2MoveU
Quality release. Edit: As time has gone on I like this release much less than I originally did. It sounds very similar, pounding home lots of the full-on tropes that I cannot abide any longer. His sample work is great and sets the mood for the tracks, but I just cannot get past the bass line.Mdk
