Lemmiwinks
I remember being a kid and walking on the streets in NY and seeing these guys with a boombox spread a carton on the floor and start makin some moves hehe it seemed SOOOO cool at the time Looking back, most of the music was crap but every once and then there's still one or other pretty nice track. BTW this is where it all started, artists were for the first time making music ONLY by using the legendary 303, 808 and 909 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rYuFr-L_X4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcI_GM3iS0o So what are your picks? rino
BTW this is where it all started, artists were for the first time making music ONLY by using the legendary 303, 808 and 909 So what are your picks? Mantronix was awesome. I scooped up some of his stuff years ago from this bin under the counter in a record store which is no longer here in Zagreb. Great producer, huge impact on both thr hip hop culture and the electronic music scene, although there were guys way before him rocking the equipment you listed. My picks: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_ngYkndfjw and this gem from 1982...: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7flghNTYZI
rino
On the more hip hop tip I'm also a huge fan of this instrumental tune. Huge reference point within the hip hop/turntablist circles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHh_imdLKCk As for a more straight up 909 & 303 madness, Sleezy D just about killed it way back when: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJnqRCwPeSw
bisonte
well, i am not really familiar with the breakdance scene but oldschool electro is so good, a couple of classics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBcOVmG7UII&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiW7NbkhbJ0&feature=related
