one of my fav

Solarscape - Alive (Ronski Speed with Stoneface & Terminal Vocal

Draft - Over the Hills - old hungarian 'classic trance' trio (they had beautiful, emotional lyrics with quality background music) .... sometimes reminds me of mainstream goa/uplifing. LOL.. owing to Virus kc, Moog Voyager etc ))

Draft - 2000 year

quote:

The light is more valuable
When you’re deep under the water
A summer’s calling for your face
With words providing brace.
Sometimes we want others' dreams
Which are just simply out of reach
I'm waiting for you, as always;
Two thousand years is just some days...
Ooh, but we should wait some more…

i like this version better:

yes but that wouldn't qualify as eurotrance, it's classic trance ;) Although I actually find the Ayla remix to be one of the ultra-rare occurances where the remix is actually better than the original :)

in euro trance it's very common to have remixes better than originals, for example the golden times of Armin van Burren and Tiesto when they remixed average tracks to make them sound great.

yes, of course :)

even in psytrance i can think of lots of examples for the remix being better (discounting same-artist-remixes). just look at what mwnn did. but i guess this is going offtopic here :)

Tiësto's remix of Silence by Delerium is quite good, though it's debatable whether it's better than the original (which is a completely different genre).

hum really? care to give some examples? The only one I know of is this:

the list can be big ! ;) i have stopped listening to euro trance the last years but as far as i can remember...

Airscape - L'Esperanza (Armin van Buuren remix)

agree with Rotwang: Delirium & Sarah McLachlan - Silence Tiesto remix, even if i always thought this was overrated a bit, it's still good trance

Ferry Corsten - Sweet sorrow (Thrillseekers remix) - way better IMO

Paul Oakenfold - Southern sun (Tiesto remix)

Motorcycle - As the rush comes (Armin van Buuren remix) - to discuss of course some people will prefer Gabriel and Dresden remix

Mantra - Skies of gold (Hemstock and jennings remix)

Bobina - Invisible touch (Ferry Corsten remix) - Original is good really, remix is excellent, big credit to original of course :P

Oceanlab - Sky falls down (Armin van Buuren remix) - Remix way better

Moogwai - Viola (Armin van Buuren remix)

Shane - C'est musique (Armin van Buuren remix) - Wow just love this one, of course original is good, really unknown though, the remix is a classic

Madelyne - Beautiful child (Hiver & Hammer remix) - Original is quite weak, remix is massive!

I won't put Aria - Dido (Armin van Buuren remix) in the list cause original is not really trance, more on the chill side, remix is epic though!!

So yeah a lot of AvB remixes, i was into his trance style back then :)

What exactly is the difference between classic/normal Trance and Eurotrance? I assume the latter is the sound that became popular around 2000/2001 with all the European bands, many of them from Belgium or the Netherlands, and often with vocals? I've noticed that Discogs labels many of those vocal artists as "Trance / Eurohouse", but I really don't hear any House in their sound. It appears that these terms are used somewhat vaguely, and in any case interchangeably...

Vincent De Moor is famous in the scene, his style sounds pretty old but i like it

@dleerium: don't really know to be honest

By the way, very beautiful track Adam White- Ballerina

Sounds different from the typical euro trance as I find it much darker

Have a listen ;)

What is this connection between anime and trance? I've known about this for years when I had a friend who watched more anime than a sane person should and he was really into Tiesto, etc. Is it like an otaku thing or something? Since trance is so niche in America I guess it goes hand in hand with other niche interests?

Manuser, you rock! That one has been the most atmospheric track I knew back then when I still listened to trance mainly. I was a big fan of the Talla and Taucher guys because of it.

As I have a trance past, I listened to lots of this eurodance/euphoric/emotional stuff. Here's just a sample of tracks I remember:

I was a big fan of DJ Quicksilver ... the man had some good tunes:

I also liked that tune, Koala - Australia (the old original one):

And from Tiesto ... that one was my favourite:

But if you want a real euphoric tune, try this:

Ohhhh ... it feels like a still wet road after the rain when the sun comes out again ... with these synths, hissing like the tires ... far, wide, open, fresh and so nicely fast - depends on the car you are driving though ;)

One of my all-time-favourites. A masterpiece and RMB had such a sense for simple, yet great melodies.

I actually had a cassette containing only two versions of this song for ninety minutes.

I'm not saying that Barber's Adagio is not good, actually it's brilliant, but the Tiesto remix is special. Wish I could have been there...

Man I do love normal/euro trance as much I love psy/goa. Though the modern scene is filled with lots of garbage and folks making house and calling it trance. Argh. Any ways, there's a lot of good stuff out there, regardless whether some of you guys like it or not.
