hi

i know this is not quite on topic but as seen as it regards cd extraction for thousands of goa cds i guess its ok

i have just recently aquired a mac pro laptop and want to start extracting all my cds onto a external hard drive for back up/traktor usage.

you mac users whats the best and easiest program for me to use?

i know u can extract to itunes with wav encoder but i want to leave itunes out of this equation.

have always used eac on pc and its been the best.

so please what is the closest equivalent to eac and are there programs so i can access a internet data bass like gracenote etc to get track names.

thanks in advance

Is there an issue using iTunes? Converting CD's to WAV or AIFF files doesn't involve any algorithms - it just reads PCM data from the CD and saves it in a file format. iTunes wouldn't be a factor in quality. I do this all the time with iTunes.

i saw a nice cd soft over at a friend's last weekend, but i really can't recall the name, it did the job very nicely, it's not that known on mac, all i can recall is the big red record button in the down-right corner of the app's interface and the green/orange/red quarter circle bar indicating the cd volume usage. hope that helps :P

OK, I wasn't sure when I posted before, but now that I'm at home on my own computer, I can see that xACT does indeed do CD extraction. I use xACT for FLAC conversion, but it also has LAME MP3 and and a bunch of other things I know nothing about. But give it a shot if you really don't want to use iTunes.

someone suggested i run a second itunes library just for wavs.

didn't think about that maybe that could be the one but will check out xact also

dunno if it works on mac but i use wavelab on pcs and its good.

u can extract all tracks as wave, u do have to rename them individually but it works great for me.
