Solar Fields - Altered (Ultimae) pretty ambient but heavy

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Interloper (Ultimae) pure psychill

Slackbaba - Perverting Mankind (Liquid Records) dubby, better than the first IMO

Elve - Emerald (Virtualworld) not got it yet but I can imagine how ace this is

and....

Coming Soon....

Electrypnose - Sweet Sadness (Suntrip)

My main interest in psychedelic music has always been the more downtemp stuff. and I've got to say I think we are in lean times I can't even think what the last release I truely loved was. I think it's all too slow nowadays, the psychedelic chill stuff always had a bit of an outerworldly groove to it. now too many tracks just seem to go nowhere.

Maybe give this a try? It's downtempo with some relatively fast bits (which tend to happen at the end of long tracks so can't be heard through the samples unfortunately). I'm in the process of writing a review.

Oh my. I've just noticed this:

6.06.10

It is getting so much closer....

9 new tracks are being meticulously shaped for Entheomythic, the third album by Androcell.

This is regular ambient, not psy in any sense. Still great though.

I was thinking that ishq is popular on this site so worth a mention. There is lots of ambient ambient this year that is also worth a sniff. Nunc Stans 1 track album stands out as does The Winterhouse - Sanctuary

Oh my. I've just noticed this:

Splurdge

Green Nuns On Ice - The Pan Electric Variations (dub/downtempo remixes of classic GNOTR tracks, not as good as HiD though)

Bluetech - Love Songs To The Source (lovely, typical Bluetech stuff but this time with lots of - classy - singing)

From older stuff I discovered this year I can recommend:

Hibernation - Some Things Never Change (Seb Taylor's electronic/glitch side-project)

Fredrik Ohr - Falling Through The Earth (beautifull mashup of downtempo styles)

Third Ear Audio - Third Ear Audio (Nick "Doof" Barber is involved and it's released on Dubmission Rec. 'nuff said)

Yggdrasil - Prose Edda (Shpongle/YB wannabe, but as effective as 2008's M.E.E.O, because it's the same guy + friends. Quality)

Ocelot - One (as good as any Aaron's release, but downtempo)

Peaking Goddess Collective - Organika (majestic live jam dub electronica - lots of awesome guitars, drums and bass)

+ whole Ultimae back catalogue

The new chill album by Electrypnose is pretty good. Definitely a grower.

Solar Fields' 2 releases this year are pretty fantastic too.

Tripswitch was OK

David Abrgel - Reverse Universe although a little cheesy is one of my favourites of the year.
