Androcell - Vital Signs 3. Cell - Body Temperature 4. Asura - Blood Pressure 5. Aes Dana - Pulse Rate 6. Distant System - Pupillary Response 7. Solar Fields - Respiratory Rate 8. Androcell - Neurosomatic Circuit (Brain Waves Mix) Discogs link A concept compilation compiled by Tyler "Quasga" Smith, which also is behind 4 of the 8 tracks on the compilation, and with the rest of "the power line-up" this ought be a treat! The concept is that the different artists participating in the compilation had a theme (track name) for each track (almost it seems ) to describe various biological signs/processes through music, which I personally think is a great idea. The opening track by Androcell (Atmos-Spheres (Human Mix)) is a remix of the original track released on the album Efflorescence back in 2006, the track is quite different from the original but the key segments are of course represented and used in very nice ways. A very slow flowing and organic track a good intro track to get the compilation started. Androcell is also behind the second track (Vital Signs) again a slow track with lots of organic ticks and tacks, maybe a tad cheesy synth/piano work at times but nothing that totally ruins the track, a decent track but not a great one. Cell follows up with a beautiful track (Body Temperature) again very soft, slow and celestial but without becoming cheesy one of my favourites on here! Then Asura pushes the pace a bit up with the next track (Blood Pressure) with his distinct crisp sound, I can feel the blood pressure rising that's for sure, solid work. The Aes Dana track (Pulse Rate) is deep and pulsating which fits the title very well, a very solid track by Aes Dana as usual. The following track by Distant System (Pupillary Response) has a very lush and grand sound, starting out with slow but heavy ("broken") beats but ends up in with a heavy pulsating flow which I guess is kind of the trademark for the Distant System sound, great track!! Solar Fields is up next (Respitory Rate) taking the pace down a notch with a distinct long Solar fields intro as we know him well, very warm and inhaling start to the track followed by a more intense exhale, lovely track, very dreamy! The last track by Androcell (Neurosomatic Circuit (Brain Waves Mix)) is a remix of the original track again released on Efflorescence, very nicely made but leans somewhat more up against the original than then first remix on here. But the track lands the compilation very nicely as it also started! All in all a very solid compilation with a very good flow and yet good variation as well. definitely on the slower side of things (not a bad thing at all!!!) in general but very pleasant. It has to be said that is there is nothing ground-breaking but if you like some of the very talented artists on here, then this is a safe buy! Recommended! MattMan
I agree, it's a great compilation. Pupillary Response is probably among my top 20 non trance tracks. It shares a beat pattern with these two, among many others http://www.youtube.c...h?v=91YZm2SC96I
