Lemmiwinks
he he well, we had so many minimal clones in the last 4 - 5 years, why not have a few melodic clones for a year or 2? I don't see anything wrong with that... SMI²LE
Guest phaeton
5 years of minimal clones? minimal didn't become formulaic until landmarks like 'a progress in trance' and 'under construction' had come out in 2000, and less than a year later alien project already released the prototype album that now still is being rereleased all the time in slight variations by aforementioned copycats .. i can't say it really bothers me though, it only seems like a natural development to me which will fade away and be forgotten within some time .. in the meanwhile i'm having a fabulous time exploring other genres of music, i'd advice you to do the same wouter! it does get really tiresome at parties though, but you can always cure it by taking so much drugs that you don't notice it anymore .. it seems like that's what everyone else is doing too, how else could they dance on for so many hours without ever noticing they're playing the same song all night? Guest phaeton
by the way, i just remembered i already posted a similar thread more than a year ago!
Guest :P
lol one of these so stupid topics..."full on sucks" "progressive sucks" "oldschool sucks" "everything sucks" WHY there isn't even 1 topic which says "this artist/album is great" The only thing i see here is HATE. And what you hate? You hate the music which you love. And the artists which you listed...LOL LOL LOL ....have you ever listened to sesto sento? it's SO SO SO different from astrix...which is very different from cyber cartel/intergalactic(these 2 projects are the same man) and psydrop...big LOL here this guy has created pure jewel...even if it is full on...his music has much more than just a full on bassline...maybe you guys are just too little kids to understand it It's funny to read topics like this one... It's like to say that s-range, human blue, matenda, ticon, son kite, vibrasphere are creating same music...same progression in every track...it starts with few sounds and then builds builds builds... Do you think that this view point is wrong? Yes you do...cause you like this artists... But this view point is exactly the same with yours. So please don't write more stupid threads NO-ONE will stop listen to full on because of this thread. NO-ONE will start listen to full on because of this thread. This thread is PURE CRAP (just like his author). Next time try to write something positivie about your favorite artists, instead of writing needless topics about music which you do not understand. Guest psykont
Sure Mr ;p:...I'm not starting some minimal vs full-on thread..i'm just curious if other ppl noticed that 90% of the artists nowadays sound pretty simular (and what their thoughts are about it). You obviously didn't. So you just keep downloading (I don't suppose you actually them ALL unless you're very wealthy) all these hundreds of comps and albums that are being put out each month while I put on some good ol' Psychedelic stuff from the pre-KILLAAAH days. OK and now something positive: the Wrecked Machines album is KIL...eh....VERY good!!!

khogg
I find it funny that the same pattern is repeating itself all over again. These "full on sucks" topics that keep poping up remind me of all the "minimal sucks" topics a while ago. For a while even I was starting to despair during the minimal craze. Would it ever end? Now that it has, it's full on supreme everywhere. Whether some of you realize it or admit it or not, every full on artist does not sound the same. They all tend to use some similar elements and structures in their tracks, and some of them do it much better than others. That's a fact. It's like anything else. You have to sift! Now that I look back at the whole minimal thing, and I look at my CD collection, I see a few select purchases I made and am pleased to say that, for the most part, I got a few jewels that I still listen to and enjoy. It will be the same with full on in a few years I suppose. Nuff said. I will only add that I agree with everything Mr. said above. No need to be so negative. There is lots of stuff released these days and not all of it is full on. Focus on what you like. Search it out and buy it and listen to it. And at parties... maybe you should take phaeton's advice... Guest Towelie
maybe the artists are human clones ?
Tatsu
Mr. is totally right, I don't understand that people say GMS and Astrix (for example) sound the same?! Huge difference for my ears...
Guest phaeton
khogg, i think you kind of missed the point because to me it has got nothing to do with whether something is full on or minimal, there are clones in each and every style .. i could name you a hundred full on artists who _have_ taken the effort to develop their own sound instead of cashing in on other people their unimaginative formulas over and over again, and for these artists that process does actually go on with each new tune they make, even after they've created a succesful dancefloor stormer .. the israeli clone army obviously doesn't take itself too seriously and has got a healthy sense of irony though, or at least that's what their new tip.world compilation's title "nu-clear visions' would make me think .. Guest Selim
I'm also getting pretty damn sick of the homogenized mass that is the Israeli third wave (the first wave was Astral Projection, California Sunshine, MFG, etc.; the second was Infected Mushroom, Xerox & Freeman, Psysex, etc.; and the third is Alien Project, Atomic Pulse, Astrix, and their ilk). Not only do many of the third wave artists swap .wav files so that they end up using identical bass-lines, drums sounds, and so on, but EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEIR TUNES HAS EXACTLY THE SAME SONG STRUCTURE. You know what I'm talking about: two-thirds of the way through the track, cut out all the sounds for the obligatory dramatic breakdown, then build, build, build back up for the (often fairly cheesy) climax. I can probably count on one hand the number of tracks by Alien Project, Astrix, Safi Connection, etc. that deviate from this format.
Guest Jalliuz
Maybe some artists will never go their own way just because they can't. Some people have the power to evolve and be in front of the scene. And other artists will just follow because they have not got the power to refresh and experiment. For most people you must first show them the way. else they won't ever get where they are. Well yeah that sucks. But hey, we are talking about humans, nobody is perfect , even your biggest idol is not. What we are doing with topics like this is giving the artists some comments and hopefully some artists will recognize some things and will change their style because it's not all wrong what's been said here. If this is what some people think I guess the artists must know what's going on in some psyfreaks heads. Maybe it does help... But don't get rough, don't gossip, that's no good...
