PRS Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 PRS - March of the Cosmic Crickets The first 10 minutes are somewhat progressive and only sounds are added. After that it gets very melodious with plenty of classics. I tried to make the end a little darker without making it darkpsy. I hope you know these tracks well, that should make it fun 01. Jaïa - Spiritual Drops & Eternal Ices 02. Scan X - Process Cyan 03. Dimension 5 - Trancefix 04. Psygone - Strange Cocoon 05. Lunar Asylum - Twister 06. Pleiadians - Alcyone 07. Green Nuns of the Revolution - Ring of Fire 08. Noosphere - Carpe Noctum 09. Crop Circles - Lunar Civilization 10. Cosmosis - Alien Disco 11. Darshan - Tranceformations 12. Hallucinary Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Wow looks very good Can't beat old School, Will listen tomorrow! Quote
Hallucinary Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I've heard this twice now, I can't fault your mixing was flawless No mistakes. The first 4 tracks I couldn't feel the transitions. 2nd half, it gets much darker more what i like. some awesome tracks in there!!! Though some of the tracks like, the Pleiadians track felt very short.which i can imagine was not easy to mix overall cracking set Quote
DJ Soulstone Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Your layering is quite impressive! Selection and flow are very cohesive and consistent. This is the best set I've heard in quite a while. The only thing that is not perfect(!) are the volume levels. Too many tracks come in too strong or weak, though I know that they are quite different from each other production wise. In any case this is a marvelous set! Quote
PRS Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 thanks for the feedback this is the first time i mixed this kind of goa/psy and i was pretty surprised myself at how well it mixes! i agree with the volume issues and normally i don't have that problem (with modern production). i noticed it the first couple listens, but after some more now i don't really hear it anymore. where do you think the major differences are? oh well, at least it creates some dynamic Quote
DJ Soulstone Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Dynamic is a good explanation! Just look at the waveform in Soundcloud. The maximum intensity/volume should be more or less on one level. Of course I'm referring to the more constant parts, where the beat is pumping. But old productions can be tricky bitches to EQ. Being more agressive on the EQs might do the trick in the end. I'm fighting with it myself. Modern productions are mostly on the same level, but where's the challenge in that? Quote
Snapinho Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Completely flawless mix. Can't say that I'm an expert in goa, although I do recognize some of the tracks, but the transitions are really well executed. Impressive stuff! Quote
LuisBSF Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Awesome set! I also find the punchline in the cover hilarious. Unclear, lol. Quote
