Recommend "Deep trippy Trance to me please

Elysium

Recommended Posts

I am going to record my 3rd "My Vision Of Trance Dj Mix" but have a very hard time finding the right music. The first two mixes contained older tunes but I would like to include new stuff too. BUT this is where the problem start. I have been looking for deep tripped out trance within the BPM range of 133-140 and have not found anything of quality or anything I consider to be deep or trippy (and tribal is a foreign language these days).

So basically I am NOT looking for melodic stuff, New Goa or fast multilayer stuff. I am looking for tripped out music that know how to breath!

If you are in doubt about the direction I am going please listen to my two mixes (not mandatory and not promotion) to get an idea of the kind of music I am looking for (in a modern suit).

Suggestions are appreciated :)

As soon as I saw this post I thought "Human Blue". Got to have Human Blue in there somewhere. :)

Other artists that have made post-2000 trance that I consider deep, trippy, or tribal would be Segment, Taruna, Torakka, Cosmosis (2002 & 2009 albums), This Morn Omina (tribal trance/dark ambient/dark EBM act), Son Kite, Shiva Chandra, Jaia, Funf D (& other Kohlbecker projects like Magnat), Kalyug, Subconsciousmind, Medicine Drum, Anakoluth, Klopfgeister, and going back to 2000, the Spectral album on Blue Room had some very spacy and trippy cuts.

What about Mittelstandskinder Ohne Strom? I think that The Wave Inside track is one of most trippest and deepest ever.

Would like to add first 3 albums of Space Tribe, also first 3 of SUN project, Zodiac Youth, Alienated Buddha, Analog Pussy, some tracks from Encens and Eternal Bliss, Radiotrance - Poison track is super trippy industrial goa, S-Range early releases - few EPs, Hux Flux...

EDIT: must add album from In 'R' Voice from 2009: Bittersweet. Really tripped imo :)

Thanks for the suggestions but most of this music you suggest is music I already know and a lot of it is not at all what I am looking for (All the old Goa and Human Blue is far from my idea of deep trippy "non melodic" trance) and maybe I was not being clear enough in my original post. But I am not looking for old music, Goa or Melodic stuff. I am looking for new deep trippy not too fast music aká 2010/2011. BPM's around 133-140.

Thanks walkabout. I'll check out a few of your suggestions (the first ones) which are unknown to me (I am not sure though it's what I am after - we'll see). :)

well, progressive artists like Merkaba, Tetrameth, Reactant, etc certainly produce deep trippy not too fast "non melodic" trance,

but i guess that's also not what you're looking for.

I don't know. I haven't listened to them so how would I know? :)

But you are right if it's the usual generic "umpa" progressive trance :)

Any suggestions of song titles I can dig up to check it out?

yes. for example:

Merkaba - Epic Life (listen on bandcamp)

Merkaba - Visionary (listen on beatport or saikosounds)

Merkaba - Hooked On Jungle (listen on beatport or saikosounds)

Reactant - Cultivated Abductee (free DL on ektoplazm)

Tetrameth feat. Shadow Fx - A Slippery Lynx (listen on beatport or saikosounds)

..stuff like that. i still think it's not what you are looking for but in my opinion this is deep trippy not too fast "non melodic" trance.

I reckon as LvB said, maybe try out the progressive suggestions, Merkaba and Tetrameth, but really anything from Zenon. Not a bad selection at Ektoplasm either. I wouldn't really call it the generic progressive sound at all, its definitely much darker, trippier and deeper and something different. Often either really tribal or really science, not the 'clubby' sound at all.

Those artists are as far as possible away from what I am looking for. It's a matter of taste of course. But to me this music is more like minimal progressive dark with IMO very boring basslines. I guess I am looking for NEW MUSIC that still has the same atmosphere and hypnotic feeling as the tunes I used in the first two mixes.

Alien Jesus?

Ha ha yeah let's make a glow-stick Club mix :)

Thanks to all for their suggestions (even though some misunderstood my request lol). I guess it's very hard IF not impossible to find new music that has the sound I am looking for. Or maybe we just don't know the music he he :)

SBK - Dawny Darko

The tempo is right (around 125bpm), beats are chunky and it's quite trippy, too. I like this one quite a lot, and want more current stuff like it.

Edit: there are some very minimal and trippy Villalobos tracks, try the Shackleton remix Blood On My Hands and the 37-min-long "Fizheuer Zieheuer". He uses few sounds but knows how to get a deep & weird vibe out of them.

The first tune is damn cool! It's certainly something I can use. I'll look into what else SBK has done. Thanks :)

You are far off the milky-way mate. Not what I am looking for but cheers :)

What about this ?

Too bad the god damn youtube deactivated the link, and it isn't even from the schlabb guys but from Hymen records? WTF?

It's not easy to say yes or no when I can't listen to it he he :)

Sorry mate but far far far away from what I am looking for. :)

Yeah I guessed so after listening to the SBK track above. Still I consider it trippy trance though , for sure :)

Regardless of whether you were looking for other stuff, did you like iT?

I don't know of anyone making stuff like this anymore, i'd be glad if anyone suggests something like it...

Which is my definition of deep trippy music to trance to...with a hefty dose of acid.

Peace out.

Yes it's a classic! :) I seriously doubt anyone do this kind of music today. Actually the more I listen to new music the less diversity i find. Many artists seem to be caught up in belonging to small narrow "boxes" keeping the music within limits of genres descriptions, Seem to me artists just experimented way more at that time.

Trancy techno is the best techno :)

Elysium, by "deep" do you mean music that's a little bit abstract?

I really have to second In R Voice. I don't know if it's the kind of vibe you want -- it's a little on the cold side -- but there is a sense of mystery in his music, something I find missing from most psy today.

Check this out, Teva by Guy J. (sounds nothing like the Lamur Remix). Deep, pounding and driving (2011)

Or this, Hypnoslave by Josh Wink (2009). More techno though, but I find it entrancing

Or this Roland M. Dill - Turboencabulator. Now it gets really Techno, though, but still deep, trippy and tribal

Or this, Emmanuel Top is Back!
