I've always been in awe of the album Ki Oku by DJ Krush and Toshinori Kondo.

That album eventually led me to check out Charged by Toshinori Kondo, Eraldo Bernocchi, and Bill Laswell.

I crave more of this kind of melancholic trumpeting mixed with dark breakbeat atmosphere.

Can anybody else here recommend any other albums like these? I'm looking for Future Jazz, but if any regular Jazz albums sound like these feel free to share (Miles Davis excepted, I'm familiar with Bitches Brew, etc...)

Amazing stuff. I used to play the clarinet back in high school, so this is particularly appealing.

Some Amon Tobin ( Permutation, Bricolage ) and many from Squarepusher

I've heard of this artist many times but never checked him out before. Genius.

You can try Hi-Fi Companions – Swingers In Paradise

Nice and relaxing.

I'm not sure what future jazz means either but I think Akasha - Cinematique might fit the bill.

Some nice recommendations here. Hidden Orchestra is a really nice album indeed, I've been trying to recommend it all over the place. (:

Now, another one that might fit your bill (plenty of clarinet at least) is The Embassadors - Coptic Dub. Nice and smokey jazzy atmospheres, very chilled out stuff.

Oh. . and of course, there's Bonobo's Black Sands album. Maybe you already know it, but just in case :)

I love that album, and the vocal/instrumental tracks are equally great, which doesn't happen too often. :)

Pablo Ribot

^ Simply awesome. Check Sci-fi Vol.1 , Urban Metaphor and End of Melancholy (this one is being given for free).

Really nice blend of jazz with IDM and electronic in general.

Also, Xploding Plastix have some nice moments.

Dont know about future jazz stuff but if anyone is into smooth jazz, Acoustic Alchemy is one of the best in the biz. These guy have been at it since the 1980's , i heard about them on the radio, need to dig out their discography.

Came back to check in and state that I really liked Submotion Orchestra - Finest Hour. Triphoppy jazzy downtempo. Really nice. :)
