Yes you are correct , it's the kick drum aka bass drum. Tried my best on it , sometimes it's not easy working with analogue gear. I distorted it to give more power and it sounds really powerful on my KRK monitors , maybe you're reffering to bringing the kick more to the forefront or a different type of kick drum sound? I use a vintage novation drumstation for 909 / 808 sounds , the kick i used in the record it's a classic 909 kickdrum. 9/10 is more than awesome , nothing's perfect so , i'm very happy with it .
