Guest cielspacing
Well, this is no easy task. Many new spks and amps available, almost everyday new technologies coming out... Firstly I would answer myself a few questions: -What are you going to use them for? I mean If it is for 50-75 people(then 50-75 square meters) or for 150 people or more?. -Indoor outdoor? -You want to carry simplest thing or can you deal with a separate subwoofer, or even bigger speakers to move around? Stationary? - You want emphasys on quality or volume or rughness/realibility? - Money; is it going to be below $1000, total or below$2000 or more? Also think on extra expenses like cables(long/quality ones?) , cases(for the amp), stands, etc. These are the main ones I can recall now. On principle I would recommend a separate sub and bi (or Tri) amping. Which will then need for an external crossover. That will produce the best quality/volume results. Try to answer the above questions and the answers could be much more focused.
Guest nomolos
hi i would use them mostly at home when i play my music and take them out side only when my friends and i want to have some fun 20-30 people max... u know the real small AcId sessions...there for... 1. sharpness comes before power(but still enough for small doofs indoor) 2. seprate sub and bi i think would be too expensive for i am looking to spend no more than 1000$ for speakers and amp'(is that possible) 3.i dont think i would have enough $$$ for ex' crossover so...the amp should again be somthing that gives good quality and not crazy volume. 4.cables,cases.stands...oh man i wont be able to afford it but...i think first a nice Amp and set of speakers and when and if i recover financialy from the blow i will put money on that....in the mean while the gear will be in my house and i will have to wait untill i start moving it around. 5.quality/realibility/price i know im asking for a lot but...for the time beeing untill i make millions selling drugs to kids i will hae to try and find best money for value. thx for all your help have a nice TRIP. Nomolos.

Guest r2d2
B&W may be out of his range right now, especially their Nautilus line. I've heard good things about Blueroom minipods which may be fine depending on the space and size of the room. They won't handle enough power to cover large area but seems like they reproduce sound very good. Afterall, Blueroom loudspeakers used to be B&W's branch (maybe it still is). I think your best bet is to test different speakers and amps in stores and then decide. Your budget will not get you high end audiophile gear so you might as well go to "ordinary" store that carry (still good) audio equipment. I'm thinking of upgrading soon too, but so far I had no trouble with "regular" Pioneer brand Amp and Bass reflex speakers that don't cost an arm and leg. Guest rx7style
You are best to check out: www.audioreview.com They give prices, pictures, and internet links for most things, as well as thousands and thousands of user reviews. Personally I love the sound of a tube amp, but that may be out of your price range.
Guest the psyentist
Actually Blueroom Minipod speakers suck!!! If you want good sound with deep bass you will have to go with 2 mains and one subwoofer. As for quality speakers that sound good with trance. (i assume you are looking for pro speakers not hifi) Turbo sound Funktion One Renkus Heinz Meyer EAW As for quality amps, Yorkville make the best pro amps for the money imo. Alot of people will laugh at me for saying that but listen for yourself before you play the name game. I would recommend buying used www.ebay.com www.prosoundweb.com

Guest djcl.ear
After knowing that you want mostly to cover small places I have come out with some additional guidelines -again- . -Firstly, if you want to later grow up(who knows?), then try that the parts you buy now, will stand well as parts for your next bigger sound system. In this line, I would try to get a good two way, or three way spks monitors, MAKING SURE the low driver in them, measures no more than 12". You are going to see good ones with 15" like the Mackie/RCF ones and plenty others, but the thing to focus in is that any driver in that position is going to be asked to go as high(in freqs) as 3.5khz or even 5khz, and there is where the quality of your music is going to suffer more. Because -physically- 15" is too big to produce good sound, undistorted, fast sound at those critical "intelligible" freqs. Therefore, you are better of getting a 12" mid/low driver at your monitors. That is specially so, if you like good Trance which is usually composed at, or "aware of" multiple layers and you want clarity and intelligiblity in the sound it produces...as opposed to playing more "basic" music as more technoid or simple noisy one where the thump or the final mash it produces is what then you would be looking for... The cons of the 12" are that the bass is not going to be so detailed probably losing 5hz(only) in the low spectre, but those freqs are not as relevant as happens with the Middle frequencies, also the resonances at in-house/small-middle spaces will usually mask anything to be noticeable, if it was ever. Later you can buy an extra subwoofer together with an extra power pbby with crossover incorporated) and then you will be upgraded using the better 12" size(or smaller) for midds and sounding much better than if you had a 15" for that work. Subwoofers are typically much better in 15" or bigger sizes than using a 12". Note than this later(bi-amplified) choice will produce a much louder result and better quality at 1,6 times¡¡¡ than if you later(when you want to replace this one) just buy a bigger one system with the same watts of the two separate biamps together compared with summing into one bigger amp. If someone comes to you and tells you that 12" is not as good or whatever, and If you still dont want to hear such, then there is the possibility of getting a monitor with twin(2 units) of 12" drivers, plus the tweeter. -Secondly demand that the connector in the back allow for the speaker box to be connected, either with simple one amp and cable(using the internal passive crossover) PLUS independently(two indep connectors, one for low and one for tweeter) so you may later connect each driver(the 12" and the tweeter) with separate amplifiers, thus getting advantage of the 1,6 times increase in volume/sound quality but this time in the middle high freqs range. Ok that is the main criteria... then the actual brands...And here I am not really good at, since I most always search for either DIY, parts to build/improve my own or High Phidelity(where new techs and a lot of knowledge resides), which is a much more time consuming choice...but fully rewarding for me. Dj Mad here(also a very knowledgeable and practical at PA, sound engineer) when asked about your question went straight to mention the Cerwin Vega...he said that the price is going to be some pbbly higher than $1000 if you want the amplifier included, and depending where are you located... There's many sites you may visit www.pssl.com for different brands at USA. For better answers to the brands question you will probably hit the nail if you post your question at www.live-audio.com at the LAB forum section, just be sure to put your name on your post(rather strict netiquette there, plus dont mention the Dj word, silly idea but effective). Audioreview forums mentioned in other post above are very good too. Also the answer to the "which amplifier?" question are going to be well backed by experienced answers there. If you dont bother to post, then you still may search their database, learning a lot on the way... Good wishes and let us know what you did chose.
