Tetrasect
It seems like the psytrance culture is in tune with his philosophy of restricting government, in fact i think the way forward would be to shrink government down more and more until people have the confidence in themselves to be able to govern themselves and stop trying to boss people around and telling them how to live... ...? Trance2MoveU
My wife and I were talking the other day and we said we would vote for him if he came out of the Republican primary. Unfortunately the status quo won't allow that. He's got zero chance of winning the Republican nomination primarily because of his anti-war stance, the base feels he is soft on terrorism. He said he wouldn't have authorized the kill order for Bin Laden and I don't know many people who didn't support that. I like some of his positions though. How can we patrol borders of other country without securing our own? Also, stop trying to buy influence in other nations. Cut off the teat to these nations which hate us anyway. Start taking care of your own country first. Mdk

abasio
Moved to off topic. Please keep the off topic out of the general forum. Also I don't know who Ron Paul is so I would have to say I am not a Ron Paul supporter

Veracohr
Tetrasect, there's not a ton of Americans here, you're not going to get much response. Ron Paul has his good points and his bad points, like all of them.

For the purpose of explaining to an international audience I will note a few things about life in the United States of America. Our government and all of its workers are not overseen by effective forces, they have no checks and balances that function. For this reason many Americans believe that government itself is a bad thing. We hear stories everyday about how someone who works for a government agency has failed in their responsibility. For example, the other day I saw a news story about a person who was sent to a deportation detention area. They were a citizen of this country, but only after a lawsuit was filed did this fact come to light. It is an easy and populist thing for politicians in this county to simplify things in order to get elected and that is exactly what Ron Paul and many other are doing. Overall America has a shrinking workforce, whether it is in the public or private sector, the remaining workers get paid more while the unemployed fend for themselves. I have not seen any candidate for either party come up with an effective plan for the future of the country.

America needs better government/administration, not less, but there are a number of complicating factors that get in the way.

Padmapani
if he was a candidate in my country i wouldn't vote for him with his free markets stuff and conservative values. but i certainly think that his ideas for u.s. foreign policy would be good for the rest of the world. so yes, i'm a supporter

Walkabout
I vote Peace And Freedom Party: http://www.peaceandfreedom.org/home/ Libertarian socialism is a more consistent fit with my principles than libertarian capitalism. I'd like to see the foreign occupations and drug wars of the US ended; I'd also like to see the TSA abolished and a return to dignity and respect for our health when we fly. On these issues, I agree with Ron Paul. But I'd also like to see the root causes of war addressed, along with our high rate of incarceration and our high rate of unemployment, underemployment and poverty, which we can't do by shrinking the government. IMHO, what creates a high level of personal freedom is better government and more, not less regulation of powerful interests.
GagaISM
You just said everything I wanted to say. There's only so much you can do on your own, and as soon as you organize you basically have a small scale goverment as money is power. A goverment you can't vote for or against. That's why it's better to have the state taking care of certain things.

Drosophila
http://www.littlered...king-sucks.html extremists view on things are pretty entertaining... as long as the stay in the fringes, as a president that would be rather freighting! karan129
I don't know what Ron Paul's policies are specifically but I know he's a libertarian and I don't think you can build a society on non-intervention, so if I were American, I won't be a Ron Paul supporter. Also, I always thought psyheads would be more inclined toward social democracy than libertarianism. No?
