And what about "donation" for the artists you used tracks from? I think they've put a lot much work than you did. I just hope that you have all those CD/Vinyls you took the tracks from...

Hum... he just put play button on his cd player, pluged to his mixer, and here is the mix... And all this trax have been created by real artists, wich really worked to create this, and wich had a lot of equipment to buy for making music. This artists won't be paid for this time. If you want them to create good trax in the future, you'd better buy cds: www.psyshop.com

Please don't rip off other people's creativity. This phenomenon is the only thing that plagues mankind and creates endless suffering, war, the hierarchy of human civilization... If you've made a mix of other people's creative work then you have no right to demand donation or recognition for it alone. If you want a donation i hope you at least give 99% to the back to the artist who created the music.

Human society is run by people who own other people. Through debt, though jobs, though ideals, laws, patents... etc. They somehow are able to take possession of other people's creativity and use it to their own ends. President's of corporations, insitutuions, countries.... any orgaized structure with a single figure or figures calling all the shots and getting most of the benifet from the masses, who are in a way paying tribute to these figures, by working for them and not with the entire human race.

It's that same feudal concept from the middle ages. It still is with us. Untill we learn to work togather. All that is mine, is yours.... We'll never truly own anything. Just lease, from the rich...

ok i'm done with my tangent.

yes i bought all the originals.

my friends track is on there too.

all the money i get from these mixes either goes to the postage to send them out, the packaging, the covers, the blank cds themselves or to buy more trance.

so there.

how else are djs supposed to promote themselves?

it seems to work for me, i play out constantly.

ive never heard such comments.... i bet that the artists would be happy to have thier songs being played all over the world.

bom

oh and ps zozo i beatmatched too.

blue spectral monkey : you dont think the CREATOR of the track rather would get paid than the promotion? shure the promotion part is atleast 70% of the deal, but if they dont get paid the have to stop making music to work and get food... and if you sell music you dont have the copyrights to, you are doing something that is REALLY illigal... and i actually hope you get cought!!

Regarding the legality....

I have seen the issue of charging for demo mix CDs discussed before. Apparently, it *is* legal (by US laws) to charge to cover just the production costs (ie, a buck or two to cover blank CD, cover, shipping, etc). However, it is illegal to charge to make a profit without proper licensing. I have seen people try to charge $10-15 for a mixed CD, which is completely wrong and illegal. But a couple bucks won't get anybody in trouble.

Personally, I never ask for any money from people when I send out my mixed CDs, so I would never pay money for one from a DJ. It is either a gift, or promotion, both of which I don't mind to cover from my own money. I have traded demo CDs with other DJs, but that is the farthest I go. Sure, it is an expensive hobby, but that is why I gave up fast food. ;)

I also upload all my mixes to the internet since many people prefer it that way.

the creators of the music DID get paid wheni bought thier music.

if people hear the mix, they might be more likely to go out and buy the albums

otherwise most listeners who arent djs or collectors would not know

or even care for that matter what tracks and artists are on the mix as long

as it sounds good .

i never asked for a specific price, i asked for donations.....

relax!

thanks for the legal clarification krelm... how is germany?

i guess i wont be sending any mixes out to any of you then!

i dont upload it cause i dont have a server to host it, and also i only have a

dial up modem so it would be pointless to try.
