Guest firgo
We should all be ashamed of ourselfs, all of us.....We all talk about Etnica(my favoutine artist by the way, together with Pleiadians and Crop Circles-same guys,i know),about their fantasitc tracks, great remixes,sounds,melodies,beats,parties...and look at the Album Reveiws section(you can't now,but when available)....Only one etnica album is highlighted!!!And when i look at the other albums that are highlighted....i get really nerveous....it ain't fair. ETNICA DESERVES MORE RESPECT!!!!!!!!!! For me,they are the Godfathers of goa trance....after all thay have done,we need to respect them more. ps.And don't tell me that their other unhighlighted album aren't that good and that they don't deserve to be among the highlighted.A brilliant album such as Equator not to be highlighted???Or the very first real goa trance album????Or,Chrome-Western Edition-The best album of the year???? You got my point, right???? PLUR
Otto Matta
Agree about Equator. Great album. Lower your shields and surrender your ships.
Guest --==1400MiLeS==--
•ΣQúάTσR• is one of my favorite albums ever but I found Nitrox (apart from the chill trax) and Chrome very weak...None of the stuff I loved so much on Equator was onthere. Just some trendy minimal bandwagonjumping. I really doubt they ever reach the 'Be-On-Go' levels again...
Lemmiwinks
"Only one etnica album is highlighted!!!"... uh, that maybe reflects the fact that Etnica went downhill from there? At first they were creative, they made their own sound from nothing, but now, they're just artists number 2356 to make minimal... Mind you, they still manage to get it together sometimes and give us a good melody (like Detonator), but it's not enough to justify considering a whole album a classic IMO. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh... SMI²LE
Guest staffan
here is a funny thing i came up with... after etnica made the song "history" they became history. mabye 2 or 3 tracks are good but nothing like the albums "the juggeling alchemist under the black light" and "alien protein" plus all the ep´s from the same time... and of course pleiadians and the crop circles songs... i really hope that the new pleiadians album will have some of the old etnica sounds.... Guest firgo
1.Equator is a top 10 album of all time!!!!Fantastic combination of trance, chill out, electronic music, break beat(tribal beat)...it must be highlighted!!!! 2.The juggling alchemist...this album deserves to be highlighted right away...made in 1995(out in 1996),and with fantastic tracks such as Moon Influence and Mystical Apperance in Goa,....and the other tracks are also very good!!!Same here, must be highlighted. Maybe we are responsible for the path that Etnica choosed???They said something like:"Hey,they dont like our albums, maybe the style is wrong....lets make something new, without melodies, more minimal...."and so on...???And then made Nitrox and Chrome.....)))) And last but not least....Chrome- Western Edition- i didnt say that Chrome was good enough to be highlighted(for me its still good)....but this album(western edition),for me is comletely different.More melodic, more uplifting...etnica changed their style, but we cant expect in '02-'03 tracks like ones from '96 or '97.... ps.And i forgot,if Etnica 1 is placed as an album(even if its not an album),then it also deserves to be highlighted....all tracks are great on it!!! idont want to go over the line, but for all their albums are superb...nitrox has Small Doses,Sambadrome,Nitrox,...and all of the chill out tracks are great(especialy The beast man and Triptonite(playa remix). And Chrome has Blasting! and Are we safe-two awesome tracks, and also The Object and Solaris as very good tracks...ok,enough said. Guest cielspacing
"but we cant expect in '02-'03 tracks like ones from '96 or '97...." ...I dont know what will or will not be released, but I've heard Etnica's set at Dec 2002, and -against my preconceptions- it was superb¡¡¡ The complexity of the rhythms, the space of it all, even the enticing melodies present coming in and out... it was at a simmilar vein that "Helium" mature sounds from Transwave. And it is difficult to top a sound like such, specially talking about a match for "minimal" tracks; If you take a close listen you will find that Helium is one of the few Albums from that time that sounds very good on a Indoor venue sound system; due a lot to the way it is mixed/mastered, but no less owing to the care that its placed at choosing the layers and spacing the percussion/basslines,etc... I really wish that Etnica's music is released; it might be just a piece of music that crosses boundaries and could appeal to both; ears who dig 96-97 sounds and at the same time to more detailed "minimal" sensitivities... Yes, that -in theory-might mean that it may not be liked by any of both groups...but it was so goood(to my long trained ears) that give it some perspective, give it some time, and it will pbbly be timelessly appreciated by some(and maybe not few)... Etnica pbbly liked it(bringing it at such a crossroad/time).
Guest Jaimz
With tracks like 'Seven Dust', 'VCO', 'Starship 202', their remix of Nerve's 'Nervous' and 'Detonator', I feel that Etnica's sound is several degrees more advanced and more detailed than their Alien Protein-era music. These days a considerable amount of music is suitable mostly for daytime hours, whether it's progressive or full-on. The music I feel most suitable for night seems to be dominated by minimal sounds or very heavy basslines with intense melodies - Etnica are one of the few groups that fall in between these two categories, to make truely futuristic night music. To those of you who are disappointed with Etnica's sound after the expectations raised by their earlier album I encourage you to drop all your preconceptions and listen to Etnica with an open mind. Guest Towelie
have you been thinking that its only your opinion
mars
Firgo : the "recommended" red-label on the albums' listing was something very hard to determine and maintain. I may also add that opinions about an album change a lot after some months/years. So not only Etnica, but lots of other artists deserve to be marked as recommended (imo). We have planned a solution to have a reliable "global favourites". you'll see later...one day..you know...when psynews2 blabla ))

Guest dj Young
I agree 100% that Etnica's style has changed - but think about this: after years of making 'Goa'-style melodic epic trax, they just thought about trying new things. That's what the Etnica outfit represents for them at present: sonic experimentation. For those who miss their more 'full-on psychedelic' sound, wait for the forthcoming PLEIADIANS album 'EXPLORER' @ Etnicanet Records (to be released this winter). I assure you this will surprise everyone - excellent production, futuristic space trance with plenty of intelligent melodies and powerful riffs. Ciao! Guest Phil
Etnica was really great some years ago. Now etnica changed their style a bit. But we should have a look to the fortcoming Pleiadians Album. This will rock for sure. Me i think its a good way to produce some diffrent styles under diffrent names. Etnica = bit mor dark hard progressive......Pleiadians = more melodic, good synthlines MAX really rock....

Guest leequid
I absolutely agree that Etnica are the leaders of the Psytrance scene.I believe that the quality of their production, the great outbursts of their sound and the unique melodic riffs are above of any other pure psychedelic group. I never expect to hear a Triptonite or Vimana track again (because this era is gone) but i am highly satisfied to hear tracks like the "Like a Diamond" which is quite as mind blowing as the classic gems! Not to mention Pleiadians and their IFO album -my all time NO1- which are expected to release a new album this winter,as mentioned.. I think that Man With No Name and Etnica are the most higly respected artists of the scene.Whatever they do with their sound -and they have always a high inspiration although the years- they are always recognized! And thats not bad at all dont you think?
