Penzoline Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 I've been listening to old school the whole day and it keeps popping to my head that where are all the organic instruments? Old school had tons. It wasn't all synths. New school has them but very little! Bring back didgeroos and sitars and start mixing! Also more tribal nature tracks on top of that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sCL50zLGqo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfA70HHRItM Quote
Veracohr Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Do you think they're usually samples, or played specifically for the track? I'd love to use something acoustic to mix it up. Quote
Ormion Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I never liked organic instruments in goa/psy. I'm ok with them in ambient/downtempo, but when it comes to dance I prefer it 100% electronic. Quote
Penzoline Posted April 8, 2012 Author Posted April 8, 2012 It brings great variance and organicness for goa, which are things it needs imo. Quote

Penzoline Posted April 8, 2012 Author Posted April 8, 2012 Whaa, I can't be the only one here who thinks organic instruments and chant samples give goa greater dynamics. Or can I? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wj26kAfB-Lc Quote

Sometimes "organic" instruments do the job. Sort of like how some of the best melodys are the most simple ones you never thought to think of. Quote
rino Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I'm with Ormion. The Elysium remix of The Source isn't bad, but it is a rare example of where this stuff actually works. In 95% of cases, it kills the track for me. However, a mighty fine and well known track (captain obvious strikes again) where organic instruments elevate the sound to new heights and adjacent relams is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPEW_2Q8ejI Quote
