I don't understand that....

Why a lot of people loves the Koxbox's tracks ??

Koxbox's track are very bad, no melodies, no feelings, no bassline....

Maybe it's me who can't touch the koxbox's feelings in her tracks bud i don't think....

Maybe Saiko Pod (Members of KoxBox too) tracks are a little better than koxbok's.

Bud i don't have feelings with her music.

Peace

please don't make a statement that koxbox are bad when it's obvious that it's question of personal taste. also i can't quite understand what do you mean by "no feelings, no bassline", i find koxbox basslines groovy as hell and i also like think that koxbox has quite a bunch of feelings in their tracks, especially the great unknown and dragon tales. good stuff imo =).but then again it's personal taste..

Well, I just received the re-issue of "Dragon Tales" by Inpsyde yesterday in the mail, and wow !

A few years back, I had the same reaction as you. Koxbox wasn't my cup of tea at all, and I couldn't understand all the fuss around them.

But now, I deem that "Dragon tales" is THE definition of psychedelic trance, no less (maybe along with Twisted by Hallucinogen). It is probably not the most complex, the most melodic, the most powerful, the most whatever, but it is definitely the most psychedelic in the first meaning of the term (psyche-deloun : to make the "soul" visible) for me.

Indeed, this album contains such an unbelievable amount of colourful experiences, the first one being obviously the front cover itself. Psychedelia doesn't need complex melodies or monstruous basslines to manifest itself. But it needs very well chosen and crystal-clear sonic effects to induce the visuals, and that's precisely what we have with this album IMO.

Anyway, it took me a couple of years to realize that, maybe you should let it a chance to grow in you...

:)

If you want good melodies, listen Chi Ad (!!!), Cydonia, Etnica / Pleiadians (!!!), Jaïa (!!!), Infected, Astral Projection, Toï Doï (!!!) and many more...Yes I've already listening old stuff of koxbox... Bud i don't like. Worse the new stuff...

I'm no feelings at koxbox tracks, maybe i can have more feeling at koxbox's live or dj set... Perhaps....

For me the 2 lasts albums of koxbox are very boring. It's my opinion (nanoc0de) and i absolutely respect differents opinions of me...

Bud I found strange that many people love koxbox.

:)

Peace

hehehe it's my personal experience that when at first you don't like something, just let it be, try other stuff you like and then when you're tired of those, re-listen to the stuff you didn't like. There are high chances that it'll hit you like a hammer and you'll be wondering "how the fuck could I NOT like this before???". I'm having a similar experience with Juno Rector lately. I simply couldn't understand all the fuss about Juno untill a few weeks ago. Then, I was tired of all the Israeli stuff that's hitting us, so I tried Bible of Dreams and fuck!!! Every sound seemed to fall in the right place, it was an amazing experience!! (BTW did you know that the track in the fighting scene in Animatrix - Final Flight of the Osiris is Conga Fury featured on Bible of Dreams?)

So just let it be and have a re-listen in a few months... In the meantime you can take a listen to Psychopod - Psychopod (another KoxBox project), now THAT'S oldschool!!!

Alien Aerowhatever...No feeling, no melodies, no feeling???....dude after you've developed some taste and proper hearing abilities try Koxbox again.

Jeff I agree 100%...Dragon tales is THE psychedelic album. Unfortunately not Koxbox themselves were able to top that masterpiece.

Although I still think TGU is nothing but a masterpiece too, it doesn't appeal to me as much as their old stuff used to do.

Nothing comes close to pure pieces of psychedelic art as Tokyo night, Life is... or Too Pure!!

My favourite Koxbox is their first album Forever After. Maybe you should try that.. it's the most melodic of their albums. Dragon Tales might have more stylish and updated tracks than Forever After but as whole album FA is much more complete imo.... it's quite epic... like a story... whitch makes it nice to listen from beginning to the end. :)

Early Koxbox is to me about as psychedelic as it gets, especially Dragon Tales, although Forever After is good. Their newer stuff under different names is very smooth and stylish, and good for a different reason (but not as fun as their early stuff, IMO).

hmmm I'm getting curious what Koxbox is like :)

all I know is Saiko Pod - Groove Moderator, and that's one of the coolest 4-to-the-floor-style tracks I've ever heard

If you stick around you'll probably learn to regret those words... Koxbox are the kings of psychedelia. They're also some of the most brilliant melody makers in the scene! Don't believe me? Then you must listen to 'Dreampod', 'Too Pure', 'Stay Psychedelic', 'Fuel On', 'Gods Eye', 'Point of No Return', 'Electronic Brainwash' and so on and so on... they have tons of amazing songs - just dig back a few years. Their new stuff is brilliant in its own way, but not like they used to do. Dragon Tales is the key album to grab. Don't miss out!

Part of the sentiment surrounding Kox Box reminds me a lot of how people rave about Hallucinogen--that is, it's a bit on the elitist side, and anyone who admits to not liking it is dealt with as though they are just too dumb and not a sophisticated enough listener to really appreciate REAL music cause everyone knows that all other styles or artists are just for simpletons. This turns me off in a huge way.

Having said all that, I think Kox Box has made some really excellent tracks, especially on Forever After. There are also some very nice tracks on Dragon Tales, but there is also some totally chaotic rubbish on there too---> in my opinion ;) Anyway, the Saikopod album rocks, and for me, that album was like Sandman's Green House Effect album, it proved that they are talented artists that can really produce a range of quality music.

My final point is, quite often these artists that people rave about don't appeal to me (or to others I suppose) not because the artists aren't talented or good at making cool sounds and arranging them in creative ways, but more because the atmosphere or overal mood of it just doesn't fit my tastes. For that reason, I don't much like Hallucingen, but I do like Shpongle. Hallucingen tracks tend to be too raspy and acidic and thin sounding for me, but there's no question the guy knows how to make good tracks, so whatever. To each their own.

imo koxbox was a lot better when producing music with peter candy, the third and early member. he's the one responsible for the kewl melodies in masterpieces such as stratosphere.

Actually the original KoxBox was only Frank and Peter.

Ian joined much later after stopping overlords.

Just to get the facts straight :-)

KoxBox and X-Dream are my 2 favorite goa trance artists.

Among many of KoxBox's excellent tunes, I would quote:

- Koxbox - Fuel On

- Koxbox - Magnetic Force

- Koxbox - Stratosfear

- Koxbox - Stay Psychedelic

My favorite X-Dream tune is "Brain Forest"
