needle ninja
I mean, do you have most of your combinations of sounds and patterns ready before actually starting your tune in your DAW? I've only done that once - after a jam session with a friend I got the idea to just make patterns first. It created one song (techno) and it was an interesting experiment, but it directs your creativity into too narrow a focus although it does free your mind to think about other things. I guess it's like how a Dj would use multiple records with simple patterns. - this is (or was) done, it is called 'closed grove' records. Definitely not a goa trance thing.
