Guest Wayne Keenan
i know the Future Sound of London are'nt psy trance but they're weird none the less, so it was with great expectations that I picked up 'FSOL present Amorphus Androgablahblah - The Isness' the other week hoping for a CD to take the played-out 'are you shpongled''s place. The sleeve had several reveiws from dance rags muzik and seven all the way to la-de-da broadsheet newspapers singing its praises and even giving it 6 out of 5 at one stage, whoopee! I thought , "the isness is madly wonderful" piped one critic, Mad, yes Wonderful, I think not. What the fuck happened to FSOL? gone are the days of 'papua new guinea' and 'dead cities' in comes the beatle-esque bullshit of the isness with its fucked up singing and over-used sitars. I think FSOL have just dissapeared up their own arse.

Guest --==1400MiLeS==--
Most psychedelic album I heard for years...That is true psychedelica people!!! Okay it isn't necessarily trance but many of the British electronic acts release albums that lean towards more conventional albums: listen to the latest Unkle (Never, neverland) and Fluke (Puppy) for example...Violet Vision is also taking this route... FSOL 'the Isness' is something the 6th Shpongle album could sound like. And for one weird FSOL album there are thousands of progressive boredom, full-on clones and predictable chillout albums available. As you can tell...I liked the album...but the Beatles 'White Album' (1968) and Pink Floyd 'UmmaGumma' (1969) are my all time favorite albums so maybe that helps... Guest ciotera
On a different note, Thanks for the Polar Sequences tip, Otto. It will not be leaving my cd player anytime soon. I also got the Birmingham Sequences. Too bad I'm dead broke at the moment, or I would ask you for some more pointers. Oh well, it'll do me good to stop and listen carefully to all the CDs that I have been buying like a maniac.
Guest Otto Matta
Glad to hear it, C. It's been in my CD player quite a bit, too.
Lemmiwinks
BTW speaking of psychedellic but not goatrance bands making a comeback, anyone here tried Front 242 - Pulse? It's pretty interesting IMO, although a bit too harsh on my ears, but I guess that's for people liking industrial... SMI²LE
