A chill-out track lyrics in English

I was asked to illustrate a DVD which will feature this song - a wonderful song btw - and I need to write down the lyrics. I have tried my best, but there's two or more sentences I couldn't understand clearly. Can anyone help me? The question marks are where I could not understand.

I'm pretty sure the second line you're unsure about is and all the souls before us to live their lives in vain. I think the first one is nothing else can play the part, but I'm not certain.

Thanks Rotwang. You are right! Now it all makes sense. I spend hours thinking, trying to figure out what could replace "remain", what a relief! BTW, it's "...can feed the hunger in our hearts" and not in our "hears" as I wrote. Feel free to correct any other mistake I made.

 

Edit: "all our faith was dead", is what she sings? It seems a little odd to me.

IMO:

 

• ...life that we once had should be ...life that we once led
• ...dream this morning but with a smile upon my face should be dream this morning put a smile upon my face
• ...God inside us we'd create a better place should be God inside us would create a better place (not too sure about that one)
• next two lines: we should be we'd, there would should be there'd

I think all our faith was dead is correct.
