Procyon
I was listening to some old CDs, and I had an idea for a thread: Post a track you like, but you don't hear the same pattern currently. Explain why you like it, if possible. Mine is a classic to my ears, Nerve - Channel 59, from 2000. I like its ambient texture, the "lost in space" noise in the background, the hard beat and the old-style bassline. It was a tech-trance track. Zenon Records and some other labels release tracks that they call tech-trance, but it's completely different from the original style. Procyon
@ needle ninja: well, supposedly you would explain what you hear in those tracks that you don't hear anymore. But, be my guest
needle ninja
http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvWzFLq2D9g&feature=related The above track was called 'trance' when it came out. The epicly huge reverbs; long, soft intos; and quiet female vocals were all common in their day. Also notice how the beat comes in and goes out. That is not done any more. needle ninja
Sounds totally different from anything done today- again, long spacy introduction, great analog gear, and techno inspired sounds (trance and techno where so close in those days) Rising High was known as a trance lable but today I don't think it could exist with the amount of variety on its releases. Lemmiwinks
THEEE "style" that I miss most is morning trance made by the Upsalla crew. These tracks still are among my all-time favorites, I never understood why they focus on only dark forest trance these days http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdV7i6HxBww
