Your substance of choice

The big problem, and a serious, one, which is the main reason of my comment is that substances cause definitive damages to the etheral body. It is originally pristine, as mediums from different religions have described it. Substances, because they're intoxicating to both bodies, cause an erosion in the plasticity of the etheral body, beyond repair. While the physical body recovers fast from the effects, they remain strong in the etheral body, and another problem: while the first effects are good, in the long run they are seriously destructive. I will not enter into this territory, but most cases of lunacy, suicide, paranoia, etc... are a physical result of the deterioration of the then pristine etheral body. Problems go on in a list that's almost endless. But I would like to finish this comment with my own experience: I am a medium in development, still studying hard for it. But I have seen so many souls in completely despair, in the afterlife. You have seen them too, in movies that describe a tip of the iceberg that we call "death". I can say that the suffering ghosts we sometimes see with the corner of our eye, they are there. They are you in a not so distant future. Or you may be an enlightned being, one that causes good feelings when near mediums. It depends on what you believe.

umm sorry but I don't agree... quite on the contrary, the substances allow us to be conscious of the ethereal body and the ethereal plane out there (and even the we can discuss, is there only ONE ethereal plane or many? maybe infinite? maybe ALL that we see in our imagination, no matter how wierd actually exists in some plane out there and we are just using some sort of telepathic telescope to see it?). Why would God have put tryptamine receptors in our brains and spread tryptamine-producing plants just about everywhere around the planet? Why is shamanism the primary form of religion and has traditions that are very similar all over the World, including in secluded tribes that have had almost no contact with the outer World for centuries? Surely there must be a reason to all this...

Of course, what is wrong is subtance ABUSE, but taking subtances at certain moments in a man's life are key to their spiritual developement IMO.

@Lemmi: yes, there are infinite etheral bodies between our physical body and the entity we call soul, spirit, ghost, just like there infinite numbers between 1 and 2. But I didn't want to touch these technicalities because differente cultures/religions see different numbers of them. Important is that all of them see these two bodies. As for the good side, or not, of using substances, it is up to each of us. If you think it's good, then it's ok with me. I know people who make use of drugs that have a heart warmer than people that don't. But as I said before, the afterlife is a big surprise, and not a good one, to users of substances. Elaborating a little more, we frequently deal with spirits lacking huge chunks of their rotting etheral body, their once illuminated bodies covered with a nauseous mud, and they suffer a lot for that. For, when they died, one, two, ten, twenty, fifty years ago, most of them had a perfect physical body. Adding to the surprise that they are still alive in another dimension that is entangled with the ones we perceive in our daily lives, they feel desperate when they see the results of the uses and abuses they did consciously to their physical body - and consequently to their etheral body as well. Some of their friends, family members are in what we could call 'peace of mind state', they realise in pain that they can't be with them.

Excuse me for saying this, and this is not a personal attack whatsoever, but I really have to ask if you are aware that that is not a fact? This is what you believe in. These are two separate things.

lol yep that's what I was gonna say... What are drugs BTW? would the ethereal body be affected when eating mushrooms but not when drinking a beer? I don't think the ethereal body cares about what substances the US government classifies as schedule I, do you?

Also, by saying that you are denying centuries if not millenia (!) of beliefs that altered states of consiousness induced by plants make the shaman able to communicate with spirits which is like the basis of shamanism all around the world. If the spirits told the shaman how wrong it was to consume drugs, then no shaman would ever take it again, no?

No problem, I don't see this as a personal attack. As for if it is a fact or not, it's up to each of us to have, or not, the willing to see it. My participation in this thread was not to prove anything. I achieved what I wanted: to bring the spiritual aspect of consuming drugs to the topic.

Back to life, then.

  • 9 months later...

Not in order of preference.

Alcohol for when I want to socialise in general.

Speed for when I want to socialise at psytrance parties and also for when I want to produce music. (This only tends to happen after parties...)

LSD for when I want to hear special psytrance artists at parties. (These days I tend to only go to parties where artists I really want to hear are playing, so I do end up tripping once every month or two.)

Cannabis for when I want to produce music (and also smoke in conjunction with alcohol when socialising).

Nice thread revival, not sure how I missed it. :) Actually maybe I thought they didn't talk about this stuff here for some reason.

Anyway

Psychedelics - Mushrooms/LSD/AMT/DMT When the time is right. I love home trips, nature trips, festival trips.. But believe in spacing them out to integrate them properly..

MDMA - My next favourite after psychedelics. I love music on it far too much and have probably damaged my hearing from some speaker loving ;/

Smoked weed for years until about 5 years ago. Will still occasionally, just really can't be bothered and I hated not being able to sleep without it.

Don't do: Any other amphets, as I don't feel I gain anything and don't like the vibes from ppl on them when I'm tripping.

Psychedelics are really my only drug of choice which I only save for special occasions every few months.

I kicked coffee and all caffeine back in April but unfortunately started a kratom addiction. I don't drink or smoke nor am I on any prescription drugs.

  • 4 weeks later...

Smoke the herb because it is good for the soul, a weekend thing. Drink booze because it is a shame not to do so (now that I am old, usually also just on weekends).

Once or twice a year (at festivals) I do psychedelics : LSD or synthetic mescaline. Because life would be pointless without the odd psychedelic here and there.

I used to do

Acid (several times a month for a few years)

Shrooms (not as much)

Hasch (several grams a week for many years)

Extacy (several times a month for many years)

and of course alot of non-psychedelics too like opiat based drugs and benzos.

and now, roughly 10 years later Ive just come out of a very long period of panic attacks, depression, and anxiety.

I still live with severe DP + DR (depersonalization and derealisation) and a mild HPPD.

I no longer have the anxiety attacks but still a mild case of depression.

I have also developed alcoholism due to the above as an "easy way out" for the acute symptoms.

The alcoholism itself has had its own very severe consequences aswell. (prison for example)

I consider myself a shell of a man, and utterly lost in the void. I am 31 years old and struggle with the most mundane tasks of life.

But yeah, I had some fun years in at the start but was it worth it? Trololo. No.

Sorry for being a downer just thought Id serve as perhaps a warning or something, I dunno. maybe I can stop at least ONE person from doing the same mistakes I did.

sorry for being a downer though.

Im sure I just did too much, to many different things, and under a too short of time (all in about 4-5 years)

didnt mean to get all emo but it just kinda came out.

Yep. That sounds like an absurd amount of drugs. Not surprised you damaged yourself.

I wish you the best and hopefully you are now getting the proper treatment (drugs and therapy).

Nice insight from someone "inside the circle". I never did anything, not even weed, and never understood why my handsome, healthy friends had to be in an altered state of mind constantly.

There is certainly nothing good to be had from "constantly".. But experiencing reality from an alternate perspective occasionally can be extremely beneficial and help you to grow as a human being..

Possibly see flaws in your character you never had before, things to work on in everyday life etc.. It has helped me immensely to use psychedelics in that fashion and I've learnt something every trip.

Even weed, when I smoked, helped me think through things I otherwise couldn't... Because you are almost looking at yourself through new eyes. :)

Few things in excess are healthy. But I can't think of anything more horrible or useless as living my whole life without doing mind altering substances. Some choose abstinence and it obviously works for them, but that would never be my path.

Thing that ducked me up was the fact I was just 17-21 when I did all that acid and extacy.

That's a very sensitive time for the psyche and mind. Not a good thing to alter it so often and so much in that time.

I'm 30+ now and am in life where I should have been at 25. Or even less.

Have been stuck so long due to all the issues. But st least it's unstuck now at least to an extent where I can cope.

I recommend acid to everyone - just don't do it some 50 times in your teenage years because you will probably regret it.

Once in a while I'm sure it can have intense benefits in your life.

But yes. Too much of anything is bad. And that's why I broke myself. Really not blaming the drugs at all. Just myself.
