I think "Baba" means something like "Guru" or "Master" or "Father" in hindi. In portuguese it means "baby-sitter".

What if a white Indian called you "Baba". Would you be bothered or it would not sound right because he was white?

I just don't get that thing "by white boys"... there are Indian white-skinned people. May be few, but there are. I don't get this cultural distinction based on colour.

Fred he was talking about the many pseydo hippies that have never been to India in the first place... Rich kids that think it's cool to be "in" and say boom Shankar and so on... You know the cliche's of our scene.

Baba means, "father" in Turkish. You can call your good friends and buddy’s "baba" as well. It means you trust that person.

"baba" is a last name in Japanse...and it means "Horse Place".

in India baba is a title of respect, often used to tourist-oriented indians to

show respect or flattery for you as a rich westerner.
