extreme loudness at parties and discos

I don't understand the need for extreme lodness at parties and at discos, which hurts and damages the hearing. Soe people have good peception, ohers have bad hearing perception so I guess it has to be loud for anyone. However when you get your ears cleaned up you will realise how well you hear and I don't understand why people want to damage that hearing. I love loud music and and quality sound, but not as loud as at a loud disco or at aparty.

I prefer quality sound over extreme loudness so isn't it better to have vey good speakers at a diso or at a party where you ca hear the sound very well and the loudness reduced a ittle? It does not have to be reduced a lot, it should be loud, but not as loud to damage the hearing

I have been at parties earlier and I know that it is extremly loud, it is almost unbarable and altough I enjoyed the party and music I wanted to go home because I could not withstand the loudness, it was a closed party and iinside. I would have prefered the loudness reduced by 30 percent and the quality a bit higher.

I also tend to find the music too loud at parties, but there is a reason for it: although it is painful to sober people, the volume sounds just right to people on psychedelics.

OR SO I AM TOLD.

It is ok to be loud music but system need to be ok and clear. In clubs here volume is on maximum but going in red always, so much distortions and stuff and is really anoying some time... anyway i prefer openair, no clubs or discos :D

For instance, probably you haven't visited that much variated parties I guess Radi (don't know),

If you put the volume very loud the baseline effect is not only in your ears but also in your body.

Your body trembles each time the base comes along and I can assure you

that increases the effect off trance (getting into trance).

I love it when the music overwhelms my entire body.

In the past (and I was high, no shame for that), I enclasped the speakers sometimes for a minute

and BAM BAM my body went wild, loved it. (not good for the ears though)

That's a kick many people want.

I agree 100% with the distortion, I hate it when that happens,

and I also do prefer open air parties.

I went to open air parties where instead of using giant speakers,

they built 'walls' off smaller speakers together combined,

and the detail of the music was perfect and the distortion was pretty low.

Great effect, but more expensive I guess...

+ don't forget people make a lot of noise on parties, they talk/shout,

and you will be amazed how much volume that creates on the dancefloor.

You don't want to hear the conversation of your neighbor dancing

so I guess the volume has to be at least high enough for that.

Problem with such heavy bass is also that the heart rythm may be interrupted by the heavy vibrations of the bass and basslines and that is not nice for the body at all. I would not love to feel the bass like you explain, Sideeffect. I don't want music to move me and probably inerrupt my heart rythm.

I'm pretty sure your hart rhythm does not get influenced by that,

the body is a bit stronger then that.

There are already studies about that subject. Light can't that I know,

For music you'll have to Google yourself

Finally something I can agree with. Having worked with nightlife and partied for 20 years now I can say that yes, in some clubs the audio is just too loud and really not pleasant.

Some terrible experiences I have had at Fabric London in a drum n bass night (where i just happened to be, thinking it was a mixed night, i actually wanted to go clubbing house and techno but whatever) and the main room was so loud that i could hear my ear cracking for the loudness/volume, worst acoustic ever. I happened to be there another time after a year and again the volume absurdly loud in the main room and that club is seriously harming people hearing in my opinion.

Last year I was for the first time in Berlin at the famous techno club, Panorama Bar / Berghaim and there they also are blasting into your ears... see here :

Then some clubs, especially open air, have some great acoustic and you can enjoy music perfectly.

This one for example kicks ass, Via Notte @ Corsica (but no psytrance here):

But yes I do agree sometimes there is no need for this :

You are right, ofcourse music should not be that loud and in my opinion the clubs should invest in extremly high quality speakers, but normal speakers like you can buy for home or something, for example Magnt, Dynaudio, B&W, something like that, the most expensiv models of those brands, maybe several in big rooms, turn them as loud as they can and have a high quality experience. It will still be very loud but I think music should not be too loud so that you have to cry as loud as you can in your friend's ear so he can understand.

Music should be as quiet so <ou hae to raise your voice a bit when close to your naighbour to talk, not louder, with extremly high quality people would enjoyit a lot.

and the main room was so loud that i could hear my ear cracking for the loudness/volume,

My right ear always starts cracking at parties since my first party in puberty. It really hurts when that happens. I directly started using earplugs in my right ear. Sometimes I forgot them and used toilet paper, chewed on it, until it got wet and propped it in my ear. Better then nothing. I asked my ears specialist what the cracking is all about. And according to him those are the little bones in your ear that are overloaded and make that noise. Not good off course.

But like I said I have been wearing wearing earplugs since my first parties so I did the right thing.

And indeed the music is too loud, at concerts it's even worse imo.

They deliberately increase the volume bit by bit trough the performance to increase the kick for the crowd I guess.

I had the same experience in Londons Fabric. I could not make it 3 meters past the entrance to the main room, apart from the sound pressure, i had the feeling that I need to puke. It was ridiculous. We just stayed in the small room wich was ok.

Berghain is ok, you can talk to people at the dancefloor without losing your voice, and sounds quite nice, I never had the feeling that was to loud......

Same here, I resolved to stop going to clubs after visiting Fabric one time and having my ears fucked. This was before I discovered psytrance, since which I've started going to clubs again.

Anyway I find homeparties much better than clubs. There are not a lot ofpeople there which is bad, but the acustics with good speakers will be uch better since a living roo with carpet will not have any echo like clubs so the acustics will be uch better for aktually listening the music what is the best is a cafè that one of your friends owns, he can create a party with pretty high volume and the acustics in the cafè wil be great. The sound will be dry and crisp unlike sound in clubs which will hae echo and not the same detail.
