cod Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Can anyone tell which synth this is? Bass sequence that starts at 0:33.There's something magic about it.And while we're at it. Any info on gear and production technique used by MWNN on Moment of Truth? What I can gather from listening (not this track or artist though)101106303909 Perhaps a MS20 for resonant highpass stuff. Thanks for listening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLWAOBi7gBU&feature=player_embedded Quote
Djuna Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 That sounds like a simple saw wave actually, could be Roland gear indeed Quote
Goa Travellers Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 It's a famous bass used in the 90's, it's called "Latest Bass". You can sample it in your favorite DAW, play D#1 and D#2 alternatively and you'll have the same result as . Same sound as here Buy yourself a Yamaha TX81Z, it's very inexpensive Quote
Goa Travellers Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I'm listening right now to , and there are so many synths, melodies and SFX...Is there one specific that you'd like to know how to recreate? Quote
cod Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Thanks for the replies guys. Awaken, I'm grateful How about the lead in Teleport that start at 2:32? Quote
Goa Travellers Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 You welcome. Regarding that lead, I wouldn't tell for sure. I have heard several similar leads on my synths, but they are too similar to tell which one, and the musician pass them through multieffects (e.g. chorus in this case, apparently), then it's different from the original preset. The kick may have been designed by MWNN himself, maybe from a TR-808 kick with increased resonance. Quote
Imba Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Thanks, i have some 808 vst, will try soon Quote
Procyon Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I have asked Psynews moderators to interview Martin Freeland, hope it happens and perhaps he can answer your question (finger crossed here). Quote
Goa Travellers Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 LOL...That would be cool if he shared a few tips with us Quote
cod Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Interview with Martin Freeland regarding production techniques from his earlier releases would be REALLY nice. Another famous preset used in that video is Universe from the Korg M1. Quote
Imba Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I made something smiliar to bass from track Evolution with that Yamaha sample: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8584144/mwnn%20bass.wav It could be transposed also, maybe it would sound better i don't know. It's on 135 bpm, D# key. Any advices? Quote
Goa Travellers Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 What is "track Evolution"? What software did you use? Your track looks quite transy! I like how it feels. Quote
Imba Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 MWNN - Evolution FL studio 10, just edited sample you posted a bit and put some notes... thats how it is now Quote
Goa Travellers Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Here's my take with a 4/4 kick, and just the bass line Quote
cod Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Good work guys. Imba, perhaps a low-cut would do the trick? Nice groove already. Quote
Goa Travellers Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 @lmba: I see what you mean...I'm not sure Latest Bass was used as a basis, although it reminds it. Maybe it was passed through a high-pass filter, as suggested by cod, with moderate resonance. Sherman FilterBank? Just guessing here... Quote
Imba Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I reinstalled windows last night so i can't check now nothing. It will take few days to make me install everything again, i am super laaaaaazy Maybe we make something good from those samples... Quote
