draeke
Once in a while I like to ask for advice to people in then known of the progressive trance world. So far I listened to a lot of progressive trance 2010-2011 and I didn't listen to anything released in 2012.. So what do you think, what did I miss that was released last year? I like stuff sounding like Nerso, E-Clip, Ace Ventura, Sideform, Zyce, Ovnimoon, Middle Mode, Xshade, Jaia, Vibrasphere... so very melodic and well produced. healium
I thought 2012 was a very solid year for progressive - my favs, in order of which I like best: 1. Beat Bizarre - "Mukharv" 2. Solar Fields - "Random Friday" 3. Protonica - "Form Follows Function" 4. Atmos - "604" 5. Lyctum - "Tales from the Universe" 6. Hypogeo - "Tree of Lies" You mentioned liking the melodic side of progressive - Hypogeo's album is not melodic but the others are, to a large extent - the Solar Fields, Beat Bizarre, Atmos, and Lyctum albums in particular have a good bit of melody.. "Random Friday" is really rich with details and plush - the more "maximal" side of progressive, whereas "Mukharv" is more the heavy hypnotic psychedelic minimal style - both use a lot of melody, though in "Mukharv the melodies are used more as hypnotic elements rather than as climax.. Both albums are now among my favorite progressive trance ever.
Padmapani
I like stuff sounding like Nerso, E-Clip, Ace Ventura, Sideform, Zyce, Ovnimoon, Middle Mode, Xshade, Jaia, Vibrasphere... so very melodic and well produced. you seem to have a similar taste in progressive as i do. the ones i liked most (in no particular order) were: Protonica - Form Follows Function Lyctum - Tales from the Universe V/A - Groove Attack V/A - Sourcecode Transmissions vol.1 Elegy - Sleeping Giant Sonic Wave Control - Sixth Sense but those also were quite ok: VA - Progressive Textures Ovnimoon - Holographic Remixes and VA - Goa Moon vol. 3 also had a few good progressive tracks on it. prog4all
I listen a lot to the artist you mention, really good stuff. I'm all about the melodies as well, especially Vibrasphere is just magic when it comes to that. Some stuff has already been mentioned, like Lyctum, Protonica and the Christiania Selections. Other stuff I can highly recommend (some of it can also be from 2011): Yotopia & Sphera - Focal Point EP Yotopia & Sphera - Focal Point Remixed Synesthetic - Into The Vibe EP Synesthetic - Addicted To Music Vertex - Spliff Science Motion Drive - Recycled Ecliptic - On A Ledge EP Xshade & Loopstep - Double Reaction EP Egorythmia Remixes EP E-Clip - Troublemaker EP Aho - Ancient Tribes Naes - Behind The Shadows EP XV Killist & Rocco - Fantasy Single Unseen Dimensions - Airglow EP Reverse - Reverse EP Vertical Mode - Lazer Shot EP Compilations: Progressive Classics vol. 1 Carrots and Stick vol. 2 Selection 2011 (Iono Music) Future Nature vol. 2 Beach Atmosphere Progressive Love Artificial Elements Eternal Symphony I've been listening to so much progressive the last years and I think this is the best I came across for 2012. Enjoy.
