gimmisyra
Hi! I came here for some help. Long story short... The years around 2000 I went to alot of parties and listen to some heavy shit like X-dream and also some Ololiuqui, Intact Instinct and Son Kite among others. Since then I have been busy with a lot of other things like life and all that include. Now Im back for some more hardcore psy trance and I thought there would be a ton by now but where is it? On youtube there is only "happygoalovetrancemelodies", that is girls music to me. I need some hardcore X-dream shit when Im training, I cant train to happy ecstacy tunes, I need hardcore LSD psychomachine stuff, but where is that? So my question is...what have happened since let say 2002, what is the "new" classics, I mean there should be some within the last 10 years, I just don't know about them. Would anyone be nice and tell me what classic hardcore psytrance that has been made the last decade? I don't mean fast Thunderdome music, I need heavy X-dream music. I can't do music my self because I have other things I do with my time so for now I need some already done music, but heavy shit. Im open for electric house or what ever genre as long as its heavy, I can´t stand that happy melody shit for many minutes. I don't mean that all the other music is bad, it's just not for me. Thanks for all help I can get!
Manuser
Hi mate, i'm curious what kind of tracks from Ololiuqui are you talking about ? As for the music you looking for, not sure i didn't listen to much of that thing, but I thought Miranda "rerecorded" was pretty cool

Manuser
Ok that's the tracks I was thinking about but i was not sure because you insisted on X-dream style, that's why cool album, really like it, underrated.
gimmisyra
because you insisted on X-dream style. That is because that is what I want as a kind of "measurement", as close to X-dream as possible but I do listen to a lot of other things as well. Rotwang
Over the last decade psytrance has split into a bunch of significantly different (and themselves each very varied) subgenres. At two opposite extremes are new-school Goa (which took the melodic elements of early psytrance and turned them up to 11) and darkpsy (which stripped away almost all melody and instead built tracks mostly around atonal timbres and effects). If you don't like the former, which is what it sounds like from your post, perhaps you should give the latter a try. Here are a few videos, but these days darkpsy is much too diverse to be well represented in a single post and so the following represents my personal taste more than anything else: Kindzadza - Nature Grow (2004) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQCKJN9U1N0 Terminator - Bom Bole (2005) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXjKyNAQpvo Enichkin - Beyond the Shadow of Doubt (2009) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3c4CJ-VePU Kindzadza - Shivaya Voda (2007) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9tA14lSjpI Overdream - Fiji Island (2008) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07Qs_sLafuk Kraft - Syncopath (2009) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z94QEGZ5ge8 The Nommos - The Forest Never Sleeps (2006) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTUKQk5-Hfw Psykovsky - Tanetsveta (2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf2tUc3eegY Kindzadza - Cella Fella (2012) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW09zdslsfw
Ormion
And if you really want a hardcore X-Dream-ish style (since X-Dream are not hardcore ) try this album. (Sorry couldn't find youtube videos)
Rotwang
Oh, I should add that if you'd like to learn about the other relatively recent offshoots of psytrance you could do a lot worse than check out Ormion's Introduction to Psytrance video series. In particular I'd check out the videos for darkpsy, forest, psycore, twilight, SA, progressive, dark progressive and minimal.
gimmisyra
Thanks guys! You have given me a lot of stuff to check out this weekend!
ritual om
almost all of the above (dark psy/psycore) are ok if you like noise... if you like x-dream, that would be complex unique weird and sometimes dark atmospheres with a pinch of melody, download this... doesn't get any closer than that...ohhh yes....i mean for the whole last decade.... hahaha

Procyon
As a tech-trance l recommend Antic album from 2006 and some Ectima tracks.
Paul Eye
PortaMento - The Portal
IronSun
Check the albums by artha, crossing mind, portamento indeed, Goapocalipsis by Alienapia, Dance Of The Distant Worlds by Ps-H Project and maybe organistic by Phobos Azazel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXzthc_J2Vo
Padmapani
sorry mate, that style you're looking for was only really popular from 1999-2002. the closest i can think of are hypogeo, onionbrain and the whole zenon records stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKMQmGv8SB0 these are basically dark progressive. but if you find that you're into darkpsy (a few posts further up) then you're lucky. it's quite popular now. Sideffect...
sorry mate, that style you're looking for was only really popular from 1999-2002. I was thinking the same thing, It never got many successors imo... Lovely style though...
Veracohr
Check the albums by artha, crossing mind, portamento indeed, Goapocalipsis by Alienapia, Dance Of The Distant Worlds by Ps-H Project and maybe organistic by Phobos Azazel. I suspect most or all of those would be too melodic for the OP. I'm not familiar with the last two though.

Amazing, creative. I feel I missed it big time. On the topic: it's indeed a pity that tech-trance didn't create a soiid school. I was lucky enough to live thru the apex of The Delta, Mittelskinder Ohne Strom, Booreka, X-Dream, Spirallianz and many others.
Procyon
The closest to X-Dream sounds I have found so far: https://soundcloud.com/psyjukebox/ectima-
healium
If you like X-Dream in the "Radio" style, check out Barby - "Infiltrator" - it's from 2012 and one of the best albums of the year in my opinion. It's heavy and dark, massive atmosphere, super trippy sound design - but not that super-fast "darkpsy" - more like progressive with darkpsy elements. Anyhow, a couple of the tracks remind of of "Psychomachine" from X-Dream "Radio" (which is one of my favorite albums ever btw)
Sideffect...
Sensient was indeed the first thing that comes up in my mind, Midi Miliz, , Barby is indeed a great release, but all those are mentioned here... I was thinking of tantrance volume 10... the second cd...
gimmisyra
Thanks for your time and tips! I haven't got far though, busy weekend but I think I like Dark Progressive Psytrance (Progressive Dark Psytrance?) the most, I like that kind of beat, its nice to listen to. Will give it more time though, you have given me a lot to go through.
