Which hardware / analog step sequencers are good for making Goa?

I don't know that any one would be better than another specifically for goa. Step sequencers are pretty straightforward and simple things. I think most available these days are modular, but MFB makes a desktop one that's not too expensive.

Yep. A very heavy rack version.

I would say, the effects (if not build in) you have to set in a DAW project.
