On Friday (31st) night Brainchild and Circuitree joined together to do a Halloween Free Party - at around 4 in the morning we were stormed by around 40 Rave responce policemen who forcefully removed everyone from the site, girls where grabbed by their throats and pushed over tables, assorted arrests where made including one friend who was beaten up by the police and has gone to hospital with what looks like a broken leg, he's in a lot of pain and can't walk on it

the police seized all equipment (about 7 grands worth) including the hired generator which their holding along with everything else as evidence, this will cost £70 a day until it can be returned to the hire centre

we were pritty much laughed at when we asked for any recipts or even where the equipment was being taken

does anyone have any good contacts who we could talk to to know more about our rights, where we stand etc?

from what i understand if they can pin this on an organiser then that person could face time in jail and a 20 something tousand pound fine

any help would be much appreciated

I heard about the unfortunate turn of events in www.psy-forum.co.uk :( Me and my friends were supposed to be there, but had to change plans when the guy giving us a lift changed his mind.

I will speak to a friend of mine who graduated Law at City University, London last year. Hopefully she will be able to help, but I'm not sure if she knows enough in that area.

All the best of luck!

Im naot a law student (actually Im an audio electronics student), and Im not from the UK, but from where I come from, a policeman or a drug agent has to have a realy good reason to beat someone up and in this case I think the realy good reason is resisting arrest. Now, if you resisted, then the police is right, you could go to jail. But if you didn't and if the party was anounced to the police (atleast thats how its done where i live), than they atleast had to give you a warning or a restriction of some knid (maby turn the music a little bit down) before they got all agressive. Thats where your defence lays. You where just having a good time and the poloce came and kicked the shit out of everyone. Thats the best leagal advice I can give you. And about the equipment, whell.......I think there is nothing you could actually do about it. The best you could do is maby reduce the 70 pound fee to a little less with an arangement with the police (or if you have someone who is close to the police). Personaly, I think its a fucked up deal, I mean with party being wrecked and everything. Ive made a couple of parties myself, so let me give you a liitel advice, make the next party in the woods far away from civilization.

Best luck

maybe if someone there had a camera and got pictures of police brutality they could be tracked down? - get some evidence of your own - thats how direct action groups operate. Sorry i cant be any more help.

please post on www.urban75.net/vbulletin if you havent already - im sure someone there will be able to help more, maybe recommend a sympathetic legal-aid solicitor they've had (relative) success with.

I'm not sure about this but i thought i read sumwhere that police arent allowed to sieze equipment that is borrowed or hired unless the person who its borrowed off is at the illeagal event. Again im not sure on this but you may be able to look into it.
