GagaISM
I usually prefer to listen to Techno/Trance live/DJ mixes instead of full track compilations. A good mix can really take the music to the next level. So what are your favorite old school Goa/Psy mix CD's?
IronSun
The second disc of this: I think the tracklist speaks for itself

GagaISM
Good stuff so far. It's interesting that mix CD's doesn't seem to have been much of a thing in Goa Trance. It was huge phenomenon in the Techno underground. They might not be of much relevance in this digital age, but I just love those early studio mixes where you can hear the vinyl crackling and the mixing is kinda imperfect in that magically perfect way
K-BAN
I too was going to suggest Distance to Goa 4 ;p and yes, I prefer the 2nd cd. since I still want to suggest that release, why not the limited edition version of it(which is disc 1 only)?? ;p anyone have this copy? It's the narliest cd I ever seen with a holographic print, just as this picture shows. this of other mixed cds.. do the other Distance compilations do it too? cannot remmeber... I have 7-9 or something like that in a bundle. the Goa Gil Burning Man and Forest of the Saints cds please these ears edit: ah yes! i agree with Trancentral 4 as technosomy suggested. My cover is slightly different than the one shown. something I recently realized.

(might of been first purchased ever actually) I used to have my cds stacked in a certain way back then and this was ontop for a while hehe

GagaISM
yeah their was a stigma about mixed goa cd's back in the dayWhich is interesting as many consider the "DJ mix" the very heart of the EDM culture. I guess Goa Trance was a bit more "rockist" in it's essence. You had your star-producers and the full-length album format, where the main focus in the rave scene was the DJ. Listen to a mix like "Biomechanik2" by French DJ Manu Le Malin and you won't even be able to recognize most of the tracks. That's what made him famous. Everything has be altered through mixing, pitching etc. But Goa music might have been too layered for that to work? http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oOZXj53Aoq0
Manuser
I actually prefer disc 2 of Distance to goa 5 Distance to goa 4 got kickass tracks but also some fillers... IronSun
Funny to read the original comments for Distance To Goa 4. A lot of people seem to complaint about the second disc being mixed http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php/topic/34670-va-distance-to-goa-4/ The thing is that it's shitty for a dj if you want to use a track from a mixed cd in a track and it's mixed in a way that you can't use it. I think that's all... And yes, Goa is too layered to be altered by cdplayers and turntables in a significant way. Adding to that, trance tracks tell a story, and it's a shame to chop that up because imo many nice smaller stories combined can make for a magical big picture.
