Drosophila Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 We pay around 18€ per month I'm a bit surprised to see how different the price is around the world, I expected it to differ, but it differs quite drastic! Quote
abasio Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I could get faster internet but once I go above 7GB a month the speed will drop to dial up speed. WTF? I'd rather have it a bit slower than be limited. Quote

Dolmot Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Something like seven years ago my ISP had a guideline of 100 GB monthly, but I don't think it was strictly enforced even back then. Nowadays they really don't care at all unless you run a worldwide high-traffic warez server in the network... I definitely get already more than 7 GB of album downloads (counting just legit purchases and free releases) monthly. Any modern video content would gulp it in a few days. Is that a mistake or a joke? Quote
abasio Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 'tis why I won't change and I will stay with a slightly lower speed. 75mbps will have to suffice Quote
Penzoline Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Well my box was replaced a while back, so it's back to whatever it's been for ages. Quote
kartoonz Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 catching waves in a puddle. 15 euro lol this is ridiculous... Quote
Mergi Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 This is computer plugged in with a physical CAT-wire... no routers no wi-fi. 499 SEK/month. Quote
Blair Thaumic Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 http://forums.verizon.com/t5/High-Speed-Internet-DSL-and-Dial/Dsl-customer-for-over-10-years-Horrible-speeds/td-p/575925 This sounds like our situation. When my parents first got DSL for the home ~10 years ago, it was a huge jump from 56K. Now there are ten scripts running on every webpage, five of which bog down or outright crash my browser, uploading 200MB files takes hours when it works at all, and Youtube videos cough and sputter at anything above 240p. The fast connection of the 2000s can barely seem to handle the Internet of the 2010s, and it's an enormous headache. I wonder what our options are? Quote
Paul Eye Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 Just moved, my flatmate got us this: I can't remember how much we pay for it but it's not much Quote
Drosophila Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 got a new wire-less network-card... I can definitely fell the difference! ohh and we changed provider, atm we actually are pretty stuck with these guys, we pay 260 DKR ~ €35 per month Quote

Drosophila Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 A booster?! Is it from a wireless router outside your room or something?! Quote
exotic Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Yep . eventually moved the modem close to my room . Better now Quote
Blair Thaumic Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Finally got Verizon to update our service. It's still bad but at least my computer doesn't go full retard when opening a 480p video anymore. Quote
Penzoline Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 You live in cali and have speeds like that? wot This thread reminds me of how incompetently slow our providers are at adopting to cables/Fiber. Adsl is expensive, slow and it's 2014. It's about time for the providers to give people proper deals to get better speeds to their homes, goddamn. 1 Quote
Padmapani Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 that's what i get when not in vienna. our capital city sure has the worst providers. Quote
Paul Eye Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 Upgraded to optical fibre, same price as before (30€ / month) Ping is a bit worse though. 1 Quote
Richpa Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Wow, so the future looks like that?Anyway, back to the reality, almost 15€/month, can't get any faster due to the infrastructure :/ Quote
psychedelic chipmunk Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Should be the other way round Quote
