Can't say anything about the movie but there is a prequel book to Trainspotting: Skaboys. It's about the whole group and how they started with the H and everything. I'm reading it right now and I like it better than Porno. I got the English version and the Scottish dialect needs some time to get into but it gives the book quite a thick atmosphere.
