hi guys!i'm looking for anything that could be named psychedelic jazz.

and with psychedelic jazz i mean jazzy elements in psy or psy elements in jazz:)that easy.i say this in order to prohibit any replies based in psy jazz as some form of jazz but with no electronica inside but with lots of variations etc.of course these replies interest me a lot but plaese explain tha music u are suggesting:)

for the moment i have found 2 tromesa tracks,2 from koxbox from the great unknown(lunar bin and the last:those basslines and rhuthmes in lunar bin are so jazzy) and cosmosis & shakta - the spirit world.

please reccomend anything u have in mind.i'm so fucking bored of the new stuff.

P.S i have found some compilations of mark farina called mushroom jazz.are they in this style?are they any good?

thanx a lot!

by the way i hope many of u would be interested in this kind of music:)

Hi!

Real trippy jazz (without electronics, but still psychedelic- thats the magic of jazz :)

Jan Garbarek & Terje Rypdal - Esoteric Circle

or the "i sing the body electric" album by Weather Report...

Sun Ra also did some nice psychedelic songs..

Maybe you should also check out the "psychededelic jazz and soul (from the atlantic and warner vaults)" sampler..

have phun

you could also try Amon Tobin - though he is more breakbeat/DnB oriented, he samples jazz records for some of his work (try the albums Bricolage or Permutation), and I find it to be pretty psychedelic stuff (really interesting sounds).

It's not really psy jazz, but some elements in their tunes/remixes may be somewhat the sound you are trying to define;

Kruder & Dorfmeister

Smooth bossa grooves, extremely anal production - these Austrian boys know what they are doing.

I recommend tracks such as Black Baby & High Noon.

Rip Van Hippy often have jazz influences in his music, really cool stuff.. correct me if I am wrong, but I think he is an old jazz musician?? or?

I have a stronge feeling that if you dig into the Australian acts you can probably find a lot of jazzy stuff. Look what Psy-harmonics releases, they can never dissapoint.

And I have to agree with grahf who said Amon Tobin, maybe not trance, but sure it is one of the best artists I have heard. Psychedelic and jazzy. Altough, tha albums Bricolage and permutation is very good and jazzy, I think the two albums "Out From Out Where" and "Supermodified" is even better.

I would advise you to dig into Sun Ra's repertoire, he was one of the leaders of the free jazz movement and even experimented with electronics. His album covers are also very psychedelic. Start with Heliocentric Worlds Vol. 1 and 2.
