desysko Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Like the title says, does anyone know of stuff that is simliar to Crossing Mind, specifically his Inner Shift album? I find myself loving it more and more every time I listen to it, and I need more stuff like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51NzrTHPWEI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhiuTRljeAI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eka_M4DQ7Ls The whole album sort of has a unique sound to it. I haven't heard lots of stuff like it. The only other song that I could find that is remotely similar is MFG's Dark Water, but even then it's only similar near the end of the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbpwFDINYwQ Quote
Veracohr Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Can't say that I do. That's one of the things that I think helped his music really catch on when it was resurrected a few years ago: it had a bit of a different sound that was not like the (sometimes formulaic) newer goa trance, had a bit of an old school vibe but also didn't rehash the old school sound. desysko Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 Ya, what you said is how I sort of felt about the album. It was new but old. It caught my attention right away when I first heard it. Quote
exotic Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Nothing like it. CM is a magician shaman with those melodies that he crafts for his tracks which separates him from the rest of the pack. It would be a dream come true to be at a live gig .. Quote
desysko Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Ya, I guess his stuff is pretty unique. *Sigh* Guess I'll have to turn on his album again, haha. I want know how he makes those sounds, I love them. Quote
Shpongled247 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Definitely one of a kind and that video alone has to be in my most played list! Remember playing it all the time in Australia, dreaming of being there, now I'm only a few months from seeing him live at last. Crazy! Should try go to this if you are somewhere relatively close country wise! http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php/topic/67959-10-years-suntrip-5-years-old-is-gold-organised-by-fractal-gate-belgium/ Quote

desysko Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Call me an idiot, but I completely forgot to check soundcloud if he has an account. Thanks the the update. Sounds really interesting. Man I love it. Quote
Richpa Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 New sounds from him. I hope a new album is on the making https://soundcloud.com/crossing-mind/goathmic-pulsations-preview-1 Speaking about the new releases, he will release 'Virtual Mind Cleaner' track on our compilation this month, and I can tell you it's pure Crossing Mind style and vibe, very emotional track with wonderful floating atmosphere and deep layers. Will post some previews in upcoming days! Quote

Tears to my eyes... Quote
Paul Eye Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 There's no one that sounds like him. Quite an achievement in these days of cookie cutter psy of various flavours. Quote

Imba & i cried whenever that track was playing during the making of tracklist. Quote

Guest antic Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Nothing sounds quite like Crossing Mind If I was however to try find similarities, I'd say that - in terms of SOUND, not melodies - a mix of artists like Biodegradable, Dissociative and Merr0w would be pretty close. That kind of raw, primal and usually purposely dirty sound, that's changing and morphing in time, sometimes even bordering on annoying, but never really crossing the line for long enough. Contrary to a lot of music released under goa/psy label, it sounds as if it was recorded live, i.e. that every sound and tweak is hand-made, rather than meticulously programmed, trimmed, quantised, etc. in software. Other record I could think of that sounded like that was ancient Tromesa "Pasma Czasu" album, which - due to technical shortcomings of hardware available in Poland at the time - was really recorded like that. exotic Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Jikkenteki - The long walk home , the upbeat CD. not like CM but still different from what you hear nowadays. As far as i can tell he doesnt stick to the 4/4 sound .. time signatures are quite different IMO ( correct me if im wrong - im no producer) . its sort of disjointed form of track structure . you might like it! desysko Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Thanks for the suggestions guys, will check them out. I like the idea of tweaking live while the song is recording, can be lots of fun. But from my experience, you have to keep track of what you're doing otherwise you'll end up 1 hour later tweaking and messing around a lot and very into the zone, haha. Quote
