Guest antic
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/spt/spt1cd017.html I'm a little dissapointed, because it sounds much like any other neo-full-on CD these days, just a little more experimental maybe... Guest Raider
I've just listened to them. I'm kinda dissapointed too... lacks energy, the wild freaky stuff, the weird noises and groovy bass. Hmmm... it sounds kinda old to me.
Guest TjT
Sounds pretty psychedelic to me. Its no Israeli full-on clone music, still has that scando sound in there. Tabulator sounds like the cryptic crunch style. 45 second clips dont tell you much though.
Guest cubensis
Wow, sounds very disappointing. Tracks 1-5 sound like any other formulaic, clone psy-trance from these days. T6-8 sound better But these are only 45 second samples. I hope I am wrong. I really, really, really hope I am wrong.
Guest Alek
Very disappointing... but like it's been said... these are only samples.
khogg
Well, I never did listen to the first Hux Flux because it's dam near impossible to find, but this new one sounds interesting at the very least. It doesn't have the much hated full-on baseline. Infact, it doesn't sound anything like full-on at all, expecially the last few tracks. There are some nice wibbly wobbly sounds in there, and the cover is pretty cool too. This response was predictable though. The expectations were so high for so many it seems. Guest cubensis
After a preliminary listen of the full tracks, I really like tracks 6-8...what you would expect from hux flux -- weird and wobbly -- but a little different than usual. Tracks 1-5 just seem to be standard morning progressive, with a few added typical hux flux sounds and a little faster BPMs. Track 9 is a downtempo track, nothing special, nothing weird. I will still buy this album, but I would be really surprised if it ever grew on me. That would require me to suddenly start liking all other progressive psy, since tracks 1-5 really aren't much off from standard proggy stuff. Oh well. I knew exactly what we would be getting when I heard this album would be released on Spiral Trax...
Guest antic
to khogg: I don't really like HuxFlux's first album and I didn't had great expectations about their new one. Instead I just wanted to point out that where Cryptic Crunch sounded like nothing else at the moment it was released, Division By Zero sounds as everything else now. Few "wibbly wobbly" sounds doesn't make it different, since everyone else seem to use them now. And about bassline - it's the simplest one note ta-ta-ta ta-ta-ta repeated over and over again, while other artists are going back to melodic basslines (Orion & Deedrah to name just a few). Guest Raider
I was hoping for tracks that sounded and the same energy as Bring Your Own Bios. THAT was a great track, lots of variation and an insane approuch to full-on music.
khogg
Antic, "Few "wibbly wobbly" sounds doesn't make it different, since everyone else seem to use them now." Yeah, I guess that's true. For the baseline, you may be right, but it still doesn't sound like your typical full-on baseline to me, it may be in notes, but not in sound, not to my ears anyway, and judging by 45 second samples.... blah. Anyway, I wasn't necessarily refering to just you with the comment about expectations. There have been posts about this upcoming album for a long long time now, and in each one there are people raving about the first and drooling over the prospect of a new album. My point is, when the expectations are that high (in general) for anything that had a well received first part, then you can almost count on a collective let down when the sequel arrives (take a look at Matrix 2 and 3). That's all I'm saying. Sincerely, Da-K-hogg
Guest cubensis
I think this is something more than people's expectations being too high. The forst 5 tracks are so watered down. It does not sound like Huf Flux -- it sounds like proggy psy with a few hux flux sounds. I may as well purchase any other spiral trax CD, I will get the same stuff. I find the fact that dennis decided to just go with the crowd very disappointing. But it is to be expected when you are releasing on Spiral Trax (a label that was once innovative, but now merely pats itself on the back while churning out boring 'regressive' tracks). All IMHO, of course. And I have only listened once, maybe I am wrong....
Guest Raider
Longer samples, if you want to give it a second try, before deciding to buy the album : http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=3698
Guest Raider
Give it a try again, listen to the Saikosounds samples. I'm at track three, and it has a really funny and weird melodi... wow, this I like. Also liked the bass at the first track. Still listening... Guest rx7style
I wish someone would remix Experimenting With Potions, Nervoservo and Calculus..... It buy that instead of this new album (which unfortunately I already ordered as of the 1st).
Guest elas
how in the world can you you beat huxflux cryptic crunch a cd that got a hole world too bend there heads around.. ? this is huxflux 2003...S* Boom
Guest --==1400MiLeS==--
For cryptic crunch weirdness you are better of with the Mandalavandalz than the new Hux Flux I guess... Judging by the samples of Saiko Sounds...Some trax sound pretty decent like 1 and 4...but other sound pretty ordinary. Ah well...
Hels
I think the samples sound badass Can't wait 'til I hear the whole thing
Guest perro andaluz
I went to 2 HuxFlux parties this year, and judging by what I heard, there were some really average tracks in the set, but the ones that stood out were amazingly good. I think I have spent too much money on crappy CDs this year, so I might as well give it a try.
Guest cac
the last four tracks is something i actually enjoy listening to ... ;> however the tracks 1-5 just sounded "whatever" to me... we're already drowning in this flat sound these days.. i dont feel we're in need of anymore they could have left them out....or save one for balance and releasing this album as a solid 5 track EP ....then... i would buy it
Guest Dj Green
The new and very awaited huxflux album is awesome! I have waited for this album for 3 years since i saw them live in the desert in israel by the dead sea. I think this cd is a masterpiece and every producer would appricate it understanding the amount of work they put into this cd. I am very glad to hear their new sound and only a little tinny bit disspointed they did not keep their old crunchy robotic sound even though it is still present in this album. The album is still very acid and very psy and very huxfluxy! I LOVE IT I LOVE HUX FLUX! CAN'T WAIT TO DANCE TO THEIR LIVE SET AGAIN!
