Guest Alek Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Ok ok.. this topic has been here a mlazillion times already, but i think it's good to put it up again every once in a while Let's see some good dark recommendations.. as I think that's the only psychedelic style left in psychedelic trance... Here's what I would say is the best of the best this year: penta - pentafiles [spectral concepts] va - tales from the dark forest [stone age] scatterbrain - infernal angel [digital psionics] va - radical simplicity [ketuh] trold - once upon a time [apoxina] steptime - steptime [stone age] Not amazing, but pretty good: va - schlabbaduerst 5 [schlabbaduerst] audialize - wanted [ketuh] va - bush martians in wonderland [psystation] xenomorph - qlippoth [gnostic] loopus in fabula - astrofunk [fabula] va - sundaze [sundance] fractal glider - digital mandala [boom] rastaliens - xplore the wild side [boom] Not too psychedelic, but still good: lucy in space with diamonds - emerald city [creon] 2003 silicon sound - pure analog [moon spirits] s-range - space [spiral trax] And there are still a couple of more releases to look out for: talpa - art of being none [sundance] va - suspended reality [ketuh] membrana - louvado seija deus [wirikuta] va - orebro freakfactory 3 [stone age] va - trashlords & psychotic micro [stone age] That's it from me... if there's anything you would like to add or recommend in this style, go ahead!!! Guest Otto Matta Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 I personally can't wait to hear Shift's new album on Stone Age (released just a week or two ago). Tales from the Dark Forest is an INCREDIBLE compilation. I only wish I hadn't lost it when I forgot to take it out of a new but defective CD player that I had to return. Anyone out there feel generous enough to send a copy? I'll definitely have to look into this Penta album. Lots of talk about that one. Quote
Guest Alek Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Yes yes yes! You must hear Penta... trust me, hehe Btw, Shift's album is coming out on Timecode, not Stone Age.. forgot to mention it. I heard a bit of it... pretty good.. classic Shift style... must listen to it some more. But check out some of the other releases I mentioned there... they're all worth getting. Quote
Guest Alek Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Wholy shit! Just listening to Shift... amazing stuff!!! I downloaded it... yes yes... burn me alive... but now I'm positive I'm gonna buy this one! Quote
Lemmiwinks Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 S-range? Sillicon Sound?? Nissimyani??? 1200 mics????? if these are dark then I wouldn't like to hear anything released by Schlabbaduerst... anyway I confirm that Scatterbrain pick, IMO it's the best dark album out there at the moment. SMI²LE Quote
Guest Otto Matta Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 Sorry. Yeah: Timecode, not Stone Age. Get them confused. I'm just excited that there's an exciting new sound out there from a few different labels. (Lemmiwinks - Please take note. Alek's recommendations seem like really good ones. Might help you out of your cynical duldrums.) Quote
Guest krize Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 I got the new Shift album on friday and its very good, great dark and fresh sounding Check it out all )) Quote
Guest k1mm0 Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 well... anything by XENOMORPH is quite dark Quote
Lemmiwinks Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 well I can also come and tell you that S-Range, Silicon Sound, Nissimyami and 1200 mics shouldn't be recomended for innovation either :-))) SMI²LE I like being cynical Quote
Guest x Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 dark+psychedelc? then you should listen to Nocturne comp from Discovalley records. Insane hard stuff!!! (Kindzadza-Upstairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Quote
Guest Otto Matta Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 Agree that psionic's list was weaker, snu. Look closer at Alek's. Quote
Guest Theory of Chaos Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 I really enjoy this style... This year.... VA: Towards the one by GOA GIL....fast dark psy Tales from the dark forest...whaooo.... Shift, Xenomorph... Psycho micro and azax syndrom on parvati...that s twisted Scatterbrain it s not bad.... Top of the top: Dark Nebula 8th Sphere that is dark... Don t talk please about turbo trance and so on.....they are making something dark them...???? Don t joke !!!! And next big release in this style: DIGITAL TALK on ACIDANCE They rock....and kill the match.... Quote
Lemmiwinks Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 oh BTW since we're talking innovative, I definately recommend Squaremeat - Jungle Boogie Party Line. It rules!!!! It's by finns, so expect it to be uncoventional, yet it it's "normal" enough to be enjoyable, kinda like Mandalavandalz. Quote
Guest mike Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 Psychotic Micro Digital Talk Azax Syndrom my top 3! Quote
Guest psykret Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Grapes of wrath!! What more is there to say??? (!!!) Quote
