Guest Duodenum Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 i think the real problem is how the party scene is changing... the last party i went to here in NYC was Son Kite live/Marcus/Peter, and the vibe was very close to a house music party. and the Phatasm party before that had insane, angry security that totally brought the vibe down. i don't think it's very easy to lose yourself at a party these days.... they're always getting busted or filled with weekend trancers. i think the whole progressive sound has really blurred the lines a bit between scenes. as for the music, i don't see how people can say it's only getting worse??? there is more good psytrance releasing than ever before. it just isn't the "goa" sound so many people seem to want. what i really want is more breakbeats and irregular kick drum patterns. check the eraser vs yojalka album. i think the whole non-stop 4/4 kick is getting rather tired... Guest Candlejack Posted December 25, 2003 Posted December 25, 2003 Blah blah... I hate these people always moaning and bitching about how Goa used to rock and now it doesn't... Get a life man!! If there wasn't an artist out there who tried something new, we would all still be listening to the same old shit. I don't know about you, but I for one think the scene has become better over the years! There's more diverse styles of psytrance, and way better production quality. For newer styles check for example work from: Midi Miliz, Nuclear Ramjet, Son Kite etc. etc.) If I was still listening to all Cosmosis, Astral Projection and MFG wannabe's, I'd probably say what some of you are saying right now! The scene sucks! But... And listen up: IT DOESN'T !!! You got that??? Because we now still have artists charging up the old school Goa vibe, but newer artists with fresher styles as well! So what does it all mean? It means the scene is just changing... and that's what all music styles do over periods of time. Can't live with that? Then get out! Quote
Guest Blind Mind Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 Oooooppss ! Sorry. I wrote in a rush without the translator's help, so please sorry for some english mistakes, which are a bit annoying, just sometimes I feel a strong need to express myself Overall, I agree with Candlejack though asking someone to get out of the scene only because it's complaining, don't combine with the trance spirit & is not fair, if you ask me. To be honest, don't bother me at all people that affirm its opinion without hypocrisies & cynicisms, showing who they really are & what really thinks because that's the best way to avoid wrong understandings and to have healthy discussions, helping the scene getting better. Much worse is to wear masks, to be false, or to be accomplice with the silence, in certain situations. However, there is a huge difference between public & private talks. Please, excuse me again the really bad english. Happy new year PS - In the end of my last post, I wanted to say: Love & hate are blind. Love doesn't allow to see some bad things or, if we do, we don't care. Hate doesn't allow to see some good things or, if we do, we don't care. It's all there in the mind and the choice is ours. Quote
Guest SiriusProject Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 P.L.U.R """""we are here because this music changed our lives, it has also changed the lives of all others we know ... that opened their minds to it -and that change is good. we want all people to have a chance for that change -so we are spreading the message"""" Quote
Guest Slidingtrancer Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 I think the scene is dead when everybody says it is. To me it's a vibrant genre of music which is in constant movement. The problems which we see have to do with the scale we are looking at them. We are all deep IN this scene, hearing all the songs and not seeing any progression, but in fact there is... There are new sounds being slowly put to use... Quote
Guest aNti-MattEr Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 BE FUCKING POSITIVE FOR A CHANGE! You are what you eat. Your local scene might be slowing down but it's probably because idiots like you have the wrong attitude. Maybe you should put on your own parties if you don't like those that other people put on. Make a difference! Yeah sure some of the Israeli sounds might be getting a little tiresome in some ways but look at all the new labels and sounds that have sprung up in the last two years. South Africa, Brazil, Australia and Russia for eg. It's alive and well from where I am looking! Quote
Guest asshole Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 BULLSHIT! ... believe it for yourself but don't try to project your imaginary reasons for your imaginary world without good artist's to us ... it's a waste of page space for GOOD threads ... go and aet some real cactus, you'll never hate something again ... exept yourself, fake ass ... Guest Never Mind Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Oh ! Just to conclude a famous music quote: Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you riding thru the ruts. Don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don't bury your thoughts. Put your vision to reality, Yeah! --BOB MARLEY "from the song Wake up and Live" Great quote from a great artist. Not that I listen it so much but it's obvious that he was an amazing artist. And human being ! PLUR Quote
