Guest Snoz
what do people mean by funky? I just cant understand when people say "a real funky bass line" and then I listen to the track and either goes: ratattata ratatata in 16th or in 8th umpa umpa. When the hell did that get funky? it is stiff. Fine if you want a mad night time headbanger with a 16th but if you haven´t heard any other music except that then don´t say everything is funky.. shpongled
I like funky/groovy basslines in psytrance tracks. Listen to the beginning of Process - Blue Moonies... now that's funky b-line! But unfortunately after few minutes it changes back to your typical psy du-du-du-du-...... Another nice funky b-line is in Double Dragon - Worm Most used b-line is this where you got two 16th notes before kickdrum.. that b-line is in like 80% of all the psytrance tracks produced these days... I really wonder why?
Guest stephen klump
Etnica: "Troubles" off the South Africa 2000 comp. This track and a couple of others makes the comp worth getting. The 3, 3, 3, 3, 3; 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3; 2 breakup of 32 beats is fuckin' hypnotic. "You've got no guts, that's your trouble!" SK
Guest stephen klump
whoops - one too many 3's. Freudian slip in any case -- this 'lost-my-place-for-a-sec' until the short hop of 2 resets position is exactly what the track does to the brain. Hels
The new Eraser vs Yojalka has some pretty funky basslines I think. A lil bizarre though
