Lemmiwinks
Now this takes the cake for EXTREME cheezyniess... Medecine Drum - Funk Chakra. Yes, it is morning trance with RAPPING on it, yes you heard me right RAP!!!! What the FUCKING HELL were Medecine Drum thinking when they made this? Breaking new boundaries? Well then there are some boundaries that are better left unbroken... SMI²LE

DeathPosture
Yeah, Infected did it with "Converting Vegetarians"... Minding the gap since 1996... Ugh, horrible... DP

Lemmiwinks
Well, OK, technically Joujouka did it before with New Asians but that was supposed to be experimental (as well as Converting Vegetarians), but the Medicine Drum album is supposed to be "straight", no experimenting, just good ol' morning trance the way we like it. Guest Kiph T. Elephant
What do you mean it's "supposed to be" straight? Even if it is "supposed" to be straight I guess it can still be a closet-experimental. :-)
Guest cubensis
A long time ago Dogma 3000 also had a rap track. I heard the medicine drum track...it's not THAT bad =)
khogg
Yes, but is it THAT good? ... No? I didn't think so. Some things shouldn't be done and that's one of them. Just imagine, you order the latest greatest CD from your favorite online shop and throw in the CD player. Track one starts with some dreamy smooth sounds and a heavy voice says "this one goes out to my homies and their bitches.... yeah nigga... in the hood... yeah .... smokin' crack, slappin' bitches, stealin', killin', yeah!.... " all to a nice pounding 4/4 beat... LOL! Not for this homie... no fucking thank you.
khogg
It could get worse though. Astral Projection - People Can Fly (Puff Daddy Remix) (Radio Edit) Coming to a top 40 radio station near you... Or (let's hope) not.
Lemmiwinks
LOL, yeah I could imagine it right now: When you dream, there are no rules, People can fly, anything can happen. Sometimes there's a moment... (disk scratch, hip hop beat coming in) Yo yo yo give it fo my homies yo yo this is mutha fuckin 04 yo yo yo My Bentlteys are up in the front yo So come take a ride with my bitches and hoes And see what it's like to be a nigga bro (climax from People Can Fly playing in the background) So I fuck big bitches, small bitches skinny bitches White bitches, brown bitches, black bitches I pop them up in their fucking ass Cause Avi and Lior are top class (more music from People Can Fly during wich you have a dude saying Westside, Westside yeah yeah Westside homie!) I once went to Goa wearing Versace jeans Everybody was looking at me real mean Till I showed them my homies from AP Then they showed me the place to be So I took a blow from the giant bong That made me rap on top of this song Yo yo yo yo Westiside Westside Westside Then some mother fuckin cops came in the tipi Dressed all in blue like the LAPD Put some handcuffs on me and my bros But they told me they was not uncoruptible So I take out some Benjamins and pay the pigs To let us continue our gig Yo yo yo yo Westiside Westside Westside (ending from People Can Fly) SMI²LE

Guest SourMilk
This must be the worst idea ive heard in a long time. hiphop at 140+ bpm & 4/4 kicks its not happening. But have you heard that beyonce song? at times I think there is a 4/4 kick in there haha, definetely no record label with a sense of merchandising will release such flop. Guest antic
SourMilk: I think 4/4 kick is in almost EVERY pop song nowadays :-) And IMO any Beyence's track rocks big time, especially BabyBoy - her producer must be fuckin' talented guy! Lemmiwinks
"hiphop at 140+ bpm & 4/4 kicks " no actually it's more like 100 BPM, you know the usual Medicine Drum style.. and it's not 4/4, it's the hip-hop style beat (don't know how you call it technically) "definetely no record label with a sense of merchandising will release such flop." if you're talking about Medecine Drum it actually was released by Cyber Octave SMI²LE

Guest Duodenum
"Some things shouldn't be done and that's one of them." eh? open your mind! who cares if they produce a misfire track while they are experimenting? i have a love/hate thing with "Converting Vegetarians". the first listen was scary, but then i understood the cheeky nature of the track, and how it introduces their epic experimental album. now i can tolerate it and even be amused. generally, i agree on full vocals- they need to be manipulated quite heavily to fit into real psytrance. but i find some NIN quite psychedelic, and most of it has vocals. it can be done, but please don't do it in the progressive house style! "when i saw you, i felt something....deeeeep insiiiide!"
Guest CosmoNaughty
I quite like that track Funk Chakra, it's not like he's rapping about guns and how big his dick is, it's a elow of words which express some hippy ideals.
khogg
"open your mind!" = cheesy cliche... bahhh! Whatever. There are people who will like anything. I guess they are more "open minded" than I am. Guess what... I don't give a fuck. But I tell you what... here's nice compromise we both live with: IN MY OPINION some things shouldn't be done and that's one of them. I'll stand by that. I don't ever want to hear psytrance mixed with rap or any large amount of vocals for that matter. Peace out homes.
Guest psilo
yes , no rap in psytrance ... that will certainly evolve us ... infact, no nothing else in psy trance except psy trance and JUST psy trance , infact , lets make the same psytrance that has always been made, the same melodies, the same beats, the same basslines ... that way it keeps everyone interested in psytrance and evolves the music !!! NO !!! N FUCKING O !!! Shit , I love psy but it has REALLY let itself down these days, every release sounds just like the same shit being regurgitated over and over again and I know a whole bunch of people that feel the same way and have just stopped listening to it and turned to other kinds of music that doesnt resrict itself to set 'rules' about what is allowed and what isnt allowed. Psy purists are the worst. "this one goes out to my homies and their bitches.... yeah nigga... in the hood... yeah .... smokin' crack, slappin' bitches, stealin', killin', yeah!.... shit , try to get around and actually listen to some hip hop that isnt shoved down your throat by the media , Im sure you'll find that most of it has good, if not amazingly profound messages. EVOLUTION THROUGH DIVERSITY. "I don't ever want to hear psytrance mixed with rap or any large amount of vocals for that matter. " In that case you had better just stop listening - because artists who dont limit themselves with restrictions are leading the way in the evolution of music and to my ears , it is sublime. Guest koolaid
Actually I have heard an awesome live psy / hip-hop band, with live psy & innovative live hip-hop rapping in the same style as The Streets / other london white hip hop acts. But coming from a psy background! They played at a squat party in a church I went to a few months back. I met up with one of the organisers of the party in December and he couldn't remember the name of the band though. I had a few too many shrooms to think to ask em what they were called! They were on for 4 hours, and I kept on wanting to crack out laughing for the concept -- but then he'd do some badass rapping or the psy they were doing live would **kick ass**. They kept me in the chillout for a big portion of the night, twas awesome stuff. I really hope they release a CD or something so u can hear some decent psy / hiphop Because so far all i've heard has not been good (particularly infected mushroom's take)
