Guest Mike Indidginus
Hi all, Here's a link to a website I've done for my collaboration with Matt Ishq for those interested Open System
Guest Mike Indidginus
Woohoo! I remembered how to link! My powers have not grown weak old man.....
Guest Kiph T. Elephant
Ok, so the link worked... but it was a pretty weak link. It isn't enough for the link to just open the page... it has to make a statement... it has to have edge. But it was an ok link for an old man though. At least you didn't dislocate your hip while doing it.
Guest Kiph T. Elephant
If you really want to see how it's done, here's the latest link straight from Paris. a very very edgy link

Guest zer0-mantra
"Ok, so the link worked... but it was a pretty weak link." No Kiph. Actually I kind of fancy the minimal touch of that page. Reminds me of the official website of the ultra-minimal electronica group CD-R (the group's website is just as empty as their albums). Speaking of which, rumours has it that CD-R is due to release a new album, "4800 seconds of silence", this spring! Here follows the rumoured look of how its cover will look like: OK, all of CD-R's releases sucks (TOO minimal for my taste), but at least I hope it will be better than their previous album, "At decibel zero", which was their worst ever. If you can tell the difference from one kind of silence and another, that is. Frankly, I didn't like where CD-R were heading with "Music for broken speakers" and "Live at the Keele University vacuum chamber", but I hope they'll do better this time. And... now that I think about it, could it be that Mike Indidginus and Matt Ishq's collaboration and the very mysterious artist or group known only as "CD-R" is one and the same? Could that explain the striking similarity between Mike's link above, and CD-R's official website? The mystery deepens...
Guest Kiph T. Elephant
"Actually I kind of fancy the minimal touch of that page." I wasnt' talking about the page. I was talking about the link.
Guest zer0-mantra
I wouldn't name the page "Open System" by the way. Probably the system was so open that the content of the page managed to slip through into oblivion, hence its obvious similarity with CD-R's website. Guest Kiph T. Elephant
I can see the page just fine, but as I said, it's the link that I'm complaining about. Ordinarily people only look at the page, but don't pay any attention how it's linked. It's the power of linking that really counts (at least to the people "in the know"). Usually people only care about weather the link works, but what about the style? What about the edge? A link must make people go "ooooo, I can't wait to press that link" and pressing the link must give them great artistic and spiritual satisfaction. Guest Otto Matta
You guys should quit henpecking each other like two old ladies and listen to the samples. They're uber-cool.
Guest Kiph T. Elephant
"You guys should quit henpecking each other like two old ladies and listen to the samples. They're uber-cool." No, I refuse to use such a vulgar link. I doesn't make me go "oh-la-laa!". Yeah, listening to one now actually. It's nice... oh, and short. Guest zer0-mantra
I can't see any samples because the page sadly appears blank. I guess it's some internal Internet Explorer thing...

Guest Mike Indidginus
Thanks for the votes of confidence Otto & Bahamut Kiph, I'm sure you realize this, but I'll just point out in case.... Those are just one minute tasters of the tracks, they are not the tracks in their entirety. Matt & I want to release the tracks on an EP, so putting up the tracks in their entirety would lessen our chances of so doing.... By the way, your linking is exquisite. Zero Mantra - you may be on to something

Guest Mike Indidginus
PS Zero Mantra - I'm using IE & have no problem seeing the page. I think the problem may be that you don't have the latest flash player. If you go here you can download it for free. Thanks for pointing that out though - I'll try to make the index page more universal so that people who don't have Flash initially installed can get to it
Guest Lance corporal zer0-mantr
I've been experimenting with Tryit Editor and noticed that you need to write the full path of the SWF file and not just "Index.swf". It must be http://www.deviantdidg.com/Open_System/Index.swf. Also there's an error at the end of the HTML, with the OBJECT syntax, which is written as "OBJE--" when I view the HTML source, which prevents me from loading the page. When I fixed these errors with Tryit Editor, I could at least get into the opening Flash screen. And I DO have the latest Flash player. Don't know why I'm the only one who can't load the page... Guest Mike Indidginus
Hi Lance Corporal, There is no need to give the full path to the .swf files. The HTML syntax error you mention doesn't exist in my HTML file.... I've lowered the version of the Index.swf file to 4 to enable people who don't have the latest version of flash to see it & make use of the Get Flash button. Just out of interest, can you see my Indidginus site? PS Dexter - are you trying to tell us something?
