Guest Manu_S
I just noticed IM have a huge potential to make great melodies, but when they make chill tunes...very weird... the "Ballerium" track contains amazing melodies, but it goes nowhere, no direction. Same for "Dancing with Kafafi", cool track, i like listening to it, but the melodies haven't any connection between them, for me it sounds like a joke...anyone noticed this? Guest adam
These two tracks are from another world ! Infected mushroom, in my opinion, are opening a new side to the psytrance, especially with the cd #2 from Converting vegetarians ... Why should a melody going somewhere ?? A melody isn't necessarily there to go somewhere, but to bring somewhere.. to make you feel something .. And i think these two tracks are doing it very well .. Elevation is a great track with great melodies too !!
Guest rx7style
Dancing With Kadafi is one of my all-time favorite IM tracks... It has no direction because it goes EVERYWHERE, not nowhere.
Hels
they dont know how to turn these melodies into songs... rather they sound like idea collages
Guest Mike D
I think Vilet Vision did it a bit before Infected Mushroom, and f yu want quality then get Vilet Vision's Unfold album, pure genius.
Guest rx7style
Uuugh, Unfold was NOTHING compared to the debut album. Why would you bring up Unfold in a topic like this?
Guest gallowglass
IM owns when it comes to killer evil melodies and twisted sounds, but as for their chill stuff I think they have some coming along to do.... And i seriously think they should keep experimenting with psy-rap. (no im not being sarcastic). CV the track wasnt amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but i think they could really come up with some cool beats for better MC's. Guest Otto Matta
I also thought Dancing with Kadafi was kind of silly, although lots of parts in that track are really pretty amazing. At the same time, though, many of the tracks on The Other Side have a dose of obvious and intended silliness. "Illuminaughty"? I mean, come on... IM obviously has fun with their music. Guest Objeekt
Honestly i dont think that you can realy debate on dancing with kadafi or anyother psytrance song because one cant enter into Ims head and see what they actualy tried to pull off with that song.. i personaly like it, and i like that style of makeing music, its different and many tracks overflow the going somewhere part and they start sounding very easy listening, almost as easy listening as a comercialy made tune.... as for the silly part, i've hurd alot of psy songs that are just imbaressing! especialy from Im
seraph
I agree with other guys, IM have their unique sound and why should they care if they are misleading you, it all depends on your perception and imagination. They generally do make collages of ambient tracks but that was the point...It would be the best if they made some modern classical structures where they would develop melody to certain levels but they deliberately made it to sound "childish", just for the audience to accept it, you know it has to be rather applied to the younger audience and not middleaged ones...I think that they were pretty clever in making it all sounding silly at the end just cause they didn't want to be taken too seriously...Although I really hated I Wish and Illuminaughty that I did find completely irrelevant and silly but all the rest are great, I even liked Converting Vegeterians but it does get boring after few listens... Guest Daniel
IMO....Dancing w/ Kadafi is probably the most beautiful and amazing song I have ever heard in my entire life. Like someone said earlier, it takes you everywhere imaginable and leaves no stone unturned....it's sad, angry, happy all at the same time....it's an amazing peace of Art.
