Am I the only one who doesn't like Ethereal that much?

not that it's bad and I'm happy that some new artists still make oldschool (contrary to oldschool artists that find it more interesting to copy today's style...) BUT the album doesn't come close to established oldschool references like Dancing Galaxy, Alien Protein, Cosmology, Nasha, etc. and even newer stuff like Ra and Dimension 5 seem way better in comparison IMO

 

So what do you think?

i dont have it and i dont think i will get it,i dont think there will be any albums made these days that will capture that oldschool feeling..lets hope i`m wrong..

What makes some old skool great is not that its goa but the superb craftmanship in composing layers of melodies...

 

Not every1 can do a track like 'Atomic Armodillo', 'Double Dragon', 'Kabalah' etc.

You don't stand alone! Actually I was very disappointed after all the hype it got. It's got good production and ideas but I find it really boring, nothing stands out, very long songs that go nowhere, no good melody lines, etc. The only song that I like is the last one, sort of proggy goa.

I don't know why, but their tunes sound empty. ok, you have old school elements, but it just doesn't make it for me, it lacks the spirit I'd say.

Well, it's just a matter of taste... I'm also an oldschooler and prefer the more melodic twisted stuff. But I have to give them credit for this debutrecord, not doing what everyone else seemes to do nowadays -> Releasing boring, monotone sounds-like-everything-else stuff...

I admire a lot their work and courage to release an old skool album these days , you must be happy with it.
