Guest tasmanian Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 i just got spontaneous illumination - it is in mp3 format with some empty folders in it - besides my personal dislike to mp3 sound ( i do consider some fresh air and not just flat sound - it gives me an impression like sitting in a vacuum chamber where every particle is busy taking over the previous one) i could not get rid of the notion - it has been copied ott's ideas all over, simon's voises and i think i even heard shpongled distorted but still recognizable. I do admit that the music is reach and complex sometimes too stretchy and may become annoying although is there any innovation at all or it is just simply blending over somebodies ideas ? Any comments ? Quote
Guest Titik Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 i personnaly prefer entheogenic, shpongle is too tribal for me. Each entheogenic's track is a real journey. Shpongle is more inegal in tracks. Quote
Guest Towelie Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 I find entheogenic very boring... too much those damn badly edited vocal samples that dont even fit the tracks Quote
Guest aop Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 i totaly agree with towelie their use of vocals in their music is pathetic. they just throw it in there without any real connection to the background used. as if they want it to have vocals in any cost. also, when i listen to their music (which doesnt happen too often i confess) i get the feeling they have written just one track and redited it over and over again. all the tracks have almost the same structure, same sound selection and same elements. also, using the slightly different arrpegiated melodic lines in all of their tracks again doest help me enjoy the music as well. its totaly childlish..... Guest Otto Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Spontaneous Illumination is not in mp3 format, but also has the whole album in Audio "and" in mp3 format, so it plays on both systems. If you play it on a computer you obviously want to choose the audio files. And Entheogenic was before Ott, so it is the other way around. To me they are just the best in the Psy downtempo field. Guest tasmanian Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 i have to say that after a day of listening things got worse, very keen remarks about voises - sometimes it simply strikes - the absense of integrity and connectiveness with the rest of the action. I have never seen that much water either. Peace to every one Quote
Guest koolaid Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 boring copycats... give me shpongle ***any*** day! Quote

Guest daan Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 i don't like entheogenic either... Quote
seraph Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 So what if they sound like Shpongle? I am always for keeping the tradition of style...Of course that there cannot be another Shpongle but they are good as Entheogenic...Some people are so negative just for sake of being negative. Yes, they use a lot of voice samples but to me they were only annoying in one track...Every other track was actually beautifully structured and edited... Quote
