MrAnarchy
The story beginds when I wasnt even a member of psynews and was only getting into goa trance. I remember googling "Best goa trance compilations" and found myself on a similarily named thread on this forum and I noticed that many of you named "First Flight" in your list, so I decided to check it out. Went to youtube, found the full album, played it, opened a mmo game I was playing at the time and went with the flow. I immediately realised that this comp is something different and that I havent heard such quality tracks before. I was playing the game so I wasnt paying attention to which track was rocking and then came this track and I remember liking it more that the previous ones. As the track progressed i felt that it was getting heavier and heavier and then came @6:50 when I felt it calm down and I thought it was going to end, but to my surpise IT SURE AS HELL WASNT. The Slinky ones decided to end the track with a blast of 20 seconds worth of brainmelting, best heavy acid I have ever heard even to this day. When the track ended I was sitting there, stunned and sweating like crazy for unknown reason and I said out loud "What the fuck was wrong with these guys when they made this monster." And there it was... How such a small thing, a track 8 minutes long, has made me feel indescribably and that is what psytrance is all about. I really hope to own a CD of "First Flight" some day, because I think that that track alone is worth whatever the price may be now. Thank you Slinky Nuns!

abasio
(Better than a poke in the eye with a) Great track by a great artist on a great compilation by a great label This has long been a jewel in my collection. It looks lovely too. Flying Rhino is the label I miss the most... They're actually still releasing digitally https://pro.beatport.com/release/arcadia/1535120 https://m.facebook.com/flyingrhinorecs/
the goa constrictor
Flying Rhino "came back" a few years ago and it never went anywhere This round of return has indeed brought a couple of progressive eps, but I'm not putting much stock in anything until a bit more happens. The Cass era of Flying Rhino at the end of their initial run was the least interesting phase. They kind of spiraled into Meh around EPs 30 -> 40 When I say I miss Flying Rhino, I'm not just speaking of actual releases but also the type of releases It's kind of like the difference between GNOTR and the Dickster stuff he's been doing recently. It's just not the same... (and this isn't really Flying Rhino's fault. artists just aren't making that sound anymore. Air-Born had three tunes by Sean Process on it in addition to the Slinky tracks. Gus Till does chill out and mid tempo, Process does field recordings and experimental music and immersions, Darshan is progressive, etc etc. Matsuri is doing a decent job with its relaunch and I enjoy the new Flying Rhino EPs, but it's not quite the sound that I miss)
