psylophyta
Found this article on Global Research (a great alternative political commentary website, a favorite of mine):America’s Imperial Empire: The Sun Never Sets but the Mote remains in the Emperor’s Eye It's a bit long, so I just scrolled down to the first section and read from there. I find it a great primer on world politics in general. With many of the people here from Eastern/Central Europe, I would be curious to know what they think about this whole situation of conflict between NATO/USA and Russia. psylophyta
I'm from Russia, too, although I don't live there now. The impression I get from the article posted above is that it is the unchecked militarism of NATO/US + the West that is at fault. I am curious what could have happened to Russian economy if not for this constant bullying from the West.

psylophyta
Seeing things from the inside, I'm sure our economy suffers much more from corruption and other internal problems rather than any pressure from the outside. USA are not exactly friendly to China either, but the overall situation in China seems nowhere near as problematic as in Russia. Could the sanctions be partially at fault? It seemed that Russia was doing fine a few years ago.
abasio
Seeing things from the inside, I'm sure our economy suffers much more from corruption and other internal problems rather than any pressure from the outside. USA are not exactly friendly to China either, but the overall situation in China seems nowhere near as problematic as in Russia. China seems to have its fair share of corruption though, Japan too is basically just an old men's club where government contracts go to friends and safety can be bypassed with a bribe. A few years ago a tunnel collapsed killing a bus load if people. It had passed its safety examination one month earlier but was structurally unsound. The government agency representative burst into tears apologising on TV and all is forgotten a few weeks later. But China and Japan remain economically strong despite corruption. Is Russian corruption just on a wholly different level? Do you at least get the entertainment of ministers being fired for jacking off all day on taxpayers money? Starkraver
Very good topic. I think there is a similar thread in offtopic section. (Cant find it now :/) some really good points in that thread. Richpa and others were at it. @corruption is everywhere! Its more like a culture now. The older generation over here accept that taking bribe is part of job(if you have to get the work done) Can you believe that! Even the educated and uneducated ones think alike. I strongly believe the onus is upon us (the current gen) to get rid of this sickness called corruption. @Abasio - jacking off all day on taxpayers money? -- No! dont you guys have enough "love hotels" over there in Japan for such a thing But recently we had "lady" get all kinds of contracts by being "close" to the whole council of ministers!! Nasty stuff. No surprise the party got kicked out in the latest state assembly elections. @topic - I have said it before and I will say it again. Russians have been fair to us in spite of the mountain load of drugs dumped by your mafia. I would like your mafia to be kicked out from Goa (root to tip) apart from that I dont see any harm from you guys. But US! Can Never trust them , same with the Chinese! Sever lack of morals. These guys will go any extent to satisfy they needs. May be even your country would have if you were not blessed with all that fuel. Who knows. .. .
