Lemmiwinks
OK, this is maybe the acid I've taken last week-end still making it's effect but I've came to the conclusion that today's minimal and "full-on" where there's only a 20 second melody near the end is actually very similar to very early trance (you know, the kind that was played before all the genre splits). I mean at the beginning trance was very repetitive and you had to wait for the melody to come in a long long time (kinda like when singing a mantra). I know I've badmouthed today's style a lot over here by calling it "unintelligent", but could it be that the producers are actually seeking to get the initial feel of trance in their songs today? what do you people think? Guest Raider
I think... the end of Space Tribe vs. Electric Universe - See The Light (remix) just kick ass... so no complaints here
Guest Psyshaman
I think now is a great time for psytrance.. three album's that really kick ass.. The Nommos-digitaria Overlap project-6th sense Deeper In Zen-Insight If these 3 album's don't ensure you that psytrance is still alive I don't know what will.. Guest 303
the producers don't want to get the "initial feeling of the trance", the reason is more simple: most DON'T KNOW HOW to make melodies...
Lemmiwinks
yeah but that's the problem... most of them DO!!! Take Etnica for example... or Graham Wood... or even MWNN!!! don't tell me that these people just "forgot" how to make melodies over night. Guest Ale
Logic Bomb lost melodies with his Alternate Vision project
seraph
I agree with 303, most of new artists don't know how to make melodies, and I think that old producers don't even bother anymore to produce spiritual music cause that kind of music with melodies, chanting and general good feel isn't fashionable anymore...As someone stated earlier in some thread, no one wants to release Chi-A.D. new album cause he is still making old school goa trance, WITH MELODIES ! I think that nowadays sfx, patterns and samples took over the scene and that is basically all that you can hear in a party...except of some Israeli that continued making melodic trax but again with very poor background...Sad ! Yeah, Lemmi, you forgot to mention Dado that was making one of the best melodies, both guys from Pleiadians / Etnica, Serge Souque from Total Eclipse...None of them even bother making music, not to mention their regression in sound and melodies ( Deedrah, Total Eclipse )... Guest volvox box
Not all people enjoy melodies ! Some like agressive rythms so they listen to hardcore, some like driving basslines so they listen to house or techo on tech trance or dunno else, i like noise, so that my brain can boil cause eating it raw is bad for the health. And these artists today want to make a kind of ambiental dance music. Danceble groovy bassline in front and trippy sounds behind, the way i see it.The way i see it its non original i have to listen to the movies ive seen on parties again, eh"(with a noughty evil ironic smile)". Different opinions will never have genres ehehe(with that evil smile again but now a bit of blue)
