Hello people of the internet :D I'm getting into music production, and after a period of fooling around I've managed to put something together. I personally feel happy with the music, but there's certainly room for improvement (as always..) . Not sure that it sounds very professional, as mixing is my weakest point.

Still feel I managed to capture some vibe, so would be fun to hear what you think :) Feedback is always appreciated.

This is the latter of the two tracks I've uploaded :)

This one is older. the writing process was chaotic but I did enjoy it for the most part  :P

Wow, that sounded really good!

I'm not a real connoisseur of Forest Psy, but "Rays of Light" definitely has all the hallmarks of the genre, with that "mushy" bassline, incidental FX, etc. What I really liked though - and people on this particular forum will appreciate - were the melodic touches: chords, the flute (!!!), the acid line and final synth lead. The only thing I'd work on further is the snare, because it seems to be a plain TB909 sample, so it could use some tweaking - it sticks out too much. Maybe filter out some of the "click", add a reverb or chorus?

The 2nd track "Trolldeg" actually sounds even better, wider and clearer somehow and I like the more funkier vibe + all the percussive stuff, but it's more experimental and less melodic. Very fine track, still.

Please keep up, you're onto something. I really would consider buying your music if it ever gets released :)

Thanks for your response! Firstly, I'll look into the snare. :) I'm glad you enjoyed the tracks, as I play around with sounds I find myself working between two vibes: "funky/playful" and "profound/deep" - a balance between these seem to be a dangerous combination for a dance track :D So right now I'm trying to make even funkier and weirder stuff, but while keeping the melodic touch!

By the way I saw your post about your music, before registering my account. Nice stuff, I loved the goa/psy-playlist but "Hypnotrance" is awesome too! I actually work with trackers too, though in LSDJ on a gameboy :P

Thanks for the kind words!

For my money, that's the right direction - keep it up! :)

Also, thanks for your kind words. I'm now (very) slowly working on doing some new music again, but after all those years I first need to learn (on a basic level) all those "new" things: DAWs, VST, sound synthesis, automation / modulation, mastering, etc. It's great fun & hopefully something interesting comes out of it eventually...
