Guest Eshanti Brahman
Hello all people! As I have been away from this forum for more than two years and basically out of the scene for two years, I would really appreciate if someone could update me on the musical stuff. Who are "hot" and who are not? Newcomers, old psychedelic acts, feed me with news!!!! Before I left, I remember I was listening to : Simon Posford of course (Shpongle,Dub Trees etc) ,Infected Mushroom,Jaïa,Cosmosis,X-Dream Pleiadians/Etnica and lots of ambient,Shakta and of course all the collaboration, side projects, ambient projects etc. My last cd which I bought was the one about the mysteries of the skull, you know with posford, gms raja ram etc. WAITING FOR FRESH NEWS AND GOSSIP! Lemmiwinks
well basically all the oldschool artists who release new stuff are crap. Once famous artists like Etnica, AP, Shakta, MWNN, Cosmosis, even Graham Woods (of TIP fame) returned to the scene as Blowfish but the album was crap as well... Most artists who are "in" these day copy the full-on style that was carachteristic at you time for GMS and 3D Vision stuff... they're ALL doing it now... On the positive side, Boris Blenn (EU) came back and released a new album as Jupiter 8000 which totally kicks ass!! He also released a new EU album but I haven't heard it yet... seraph
Yes, trance scene slightly changed, 'evolved' and got into some full on confusion. It has less and less melodies and more and more patterns, effects and same concept. Man With No Name hasn't made bad album, just mild one of his previous works, Astral made good album as well, not great as all others of theirs, but pretty catchy, varied album. Nowadays, Skazi, Xenomorph, Rinkadink, Space Monkey, Psychotic Micro and more and more new artists are ruling the scene, thru full on madness and 'some kind of intelligent' wilderness that actually is not going anywhere. It got mostly hysterical and pretty bland although productions are better than ever. So, I don't know which style you liked or artists but the best what you can get from past years could be this : ALIEN PROJECT - AZTECHNO DREAM 02 SPACE CAT - POWER UP 02 ASTRIX - EYE TO EYE 02 ASTRAL PROJECTION - AMEN 02 ALIENATED BUDDHA - INPSYDE 02 ELECTRIC UNIVERSE - UNIFY 02 BAMBOO FOREST - RANDOM FUTURE 02 1200 MICS - 1200 MICROGRAMS 02 LOGIC BOMB - UNLIMITED 02 SYNTHETIC - 100 % PURE 02 ALTOM - HOLOGRAM 02 SAIKO POD - PHUTURES AND OPTIONS 02 GMS - NO RULES 02 COSMA - NON STOP 03 PSYSEX - COME IN PEACE 03 VIBRASPHERE - LIME STRUCTURE 03 FRACTAL GLIDER - DIGITAL MANDALA 03 INFECTED MUSHROOM - CONVERTING VEGETERIANS 03 YOUNGER BROTHER - A FLOCK OF BEEPS 03 HYPER FRQUENCIES - RED CRYSTAL MOON 03 WIZZY NOISE - ELECTRO THEATER 03 PSYDROP - FANTASY SEEDS 03 MENOG - NATURAL BEHAVIOUR 03 JIRAH - OUTER ACCESS 03 ZORBA - ZORBA 03 JUPITER 8000 - TWISTED BLISS 04 WIZZY NOISE - STEREO ELECTRIC 04 ELECTRIC UNIVERSE - COSMIC EXPERIENCE 04 HALLUCINOGEN - IN DUB 02 ENTHEOGENIC - ENTHEOGENIC 02 TOIRES - SANATI 02 JESS M - DIGIDELICA 02 SHULMAN - SOUNDSCAPES AND MODERN TALES 02 SHPONGLE - REMIXES 03 OTT - BLUMENKRAFT 03 SAAFI BROTHERS - LIQUID BEACH 03 ENTHEOGENIC - SPONTANEUS ILLUMINATION 03 SHULMAN - IN SEARCH OF MEANINGFUL MOMENT 03 CARBON BASED LIFEFORMS - HYDROPHONIC GARDEN 03 and be sure to get second part of THE MYSTERY OF 13 CRYSTAL SKULLS called SECRET OF 13 CRYSTAL SKULLS...or some compilation from GMS new label SPUN, they made few cute compilations...or some SOLSTICE compilations..So, all in all, it got more progressed and intense with better production and crisp sounds but it somehow lost its original touch...Enjoy ! Guest Eshanti Brahman
Thanks for the useful info guys! Wow! There is a Shpongle remix? Cool! I have to just listen to the new Saiko Pod and GMS. Well, I am looking forward to dive into it. Sounds like there are many new acts around, many names that I din't recognize. For sure, the tendency has been the last years that moving away from the melodic israeli-trance to more stripped down to rythm/beat and small sounds. Well...thanks anyway!!
